megan racing springs w/ gr2s?

will my 2inch drop megan racing springs be compatible with the kyb gr2s or will it be too much of a drop and kill the struts fast? im looking for a decent lower because i have 18s with low pro's and it looks like my car is lifted so much.

i just installed megan springs on over the counter struts from autozone. they ride nice and makes the car feel more stable. ive had them for a week and havent blown yet so we will see. the struts were Gabriel G-force or sumthin like that.

Did you search?

GR2 Megan:
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...g-springs.html
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...-question.html
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ficulties.html

GR2 drop:
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...-kyb-gr2s.html
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...r2-struts.html
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...2s-2-drop.html
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...-any-good.html
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...s-springs.html
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ch-2-drop.html

And there are many many more pages of search results after that.

Short answer: search will tell you.

Why not just get something decent, rather than going with a basically OEM replacement GR2?

nope they are just O.E. replacements. nothing fancy just a regular strut... but they do have a lifetime warranty

ok well i have went threw and read all the posts and the only thing i got out of them were opinions.. people say they have all different kind of combos and they work. then other people say you cant do this combo its too low, someone else says that u can do it but need to get different bumpstops.. i have gr2's im not trying to go crazy low. im trying to get it to look like a normal car not a lifted truck.. and im trying to get it to handle better, but i dont want coilovers. is it better to do gr2's and eibachs or is it easier to get agx or illuminas and the megan racing 2in drop?

Stick with a 1.5" drop. Trim your bump stops no matter the spring or strut. Im biased heavily toward shortened konis but I know lots of us are on budgets. Illuminas ride ok but are not worth the money, AGX are harsh as hell and Id rather shoot myself in the foot than ride on those again. GR-2's are bare minimum for a drop but still rather stiff. HP's cant handle any drop spring except Tokicos really.

megan is crap. but if you insist on getting those springs, at least get better shocks than gr2. AGX's would be your best bet. you can get an entire set brand new for around $450 shipped. gr2s are usually around $320 but won't last as long. gr2 serve as OEM replacement, or they can handle a mild drop like eibach or H&R.

At least one good thing will come out of it. You will become an expert on changing struts, since they will blow often.

What makes Megan crap?
I have this exact setup with no problems within the year I've had them installed.

damn.. once again people saying not too do it, people saying they have it done and its fine.. i dont know what to do. here is my situation.. i have the gr2's in the rear right now and i have stock struts in the front. i have stock se springs on them on the car now. i have megans in my closet for the past 3 months. i dont know if its easier to buy eibachs and the front gr2's and try to sell the megans or sell the stock se springs and rear gr2's and buy something adjustable for the megans..

i dont think its a good idea i do the gr2's on the megans cause the megans are a pretty intense drop for the gr2's. but i dont see what the dangers are besides the struts not lasting aslong as they should.

Megans are not good due lack of R&D and way to low of a drop. What do you expect from a $100 set of springs? You are obviously on a budget so get what ever tickles your fancy. A year or two down the road you wont be happy, just dont come back here looking for sympathy. Im not trying to sound like a douche, but seriously 90% of the members on here dont know jack about suspension and will give you crappy advice. Most dont even know about suspension travel. Ive preached for years about what to use on a 4th gen. Not to many have taken my advice due to cost. Trust me I have used or installed most of the major struts and springs out there. I wouldnt run anything but Konis and a mild drop spring. Eibach, H&R, Tokico, and Progress are about the only good ones out there and still some of those are too low and soft.

no i understand what your saying.. from experiance would the gr2's and eibachs be a good way to drop the car a little bit and have some better handling?

** and not cause an risks? besides the struts not lasting to there maximum potential?

Way back I had Eibachs and AGX set on 2f/4r. According to KYB GR-2's are basically equal to AGX set on 2f/4r or half stiff. Id say GR-2 are the bare minimum shock to run with a mild drop. Im pretty sure KYB warrantys their shocks up to a 1.5" drop. So they should last quite awhile.
