95 AT accelerates on it's own after some work done

i replaced the rear vc, cleaned the tb and cleaned off the gunk from the inside of the iacv. my idle jumped up to about 800rpms after that which doesn't bother me but now the car accelerates gradually on it's own when i let it roll. any ideas why?

Did you torque the TB and ICAV bolts on properly? Assuming you did, I would double check the TB cable to make sure it isn't stuck, and check the big air hose (between air filter and tb). It is definitely a weak link after 15 years. You might have cracked it in process of cleaning. Good luck.

Any automatic will roll at a high idle speed, it's just how it is (assuming in gear, obviously).

Have you not tried adjusting the idle back down to the proper speed?

Make sure that your throttle & cruise control cables are properly adjusted, and one or the other isn't holding the throttle plate slightly open.

the cables are fine, they'd have to be tightening on their own to cause the problem.

Don't assume. If your cable was properly adjusted before removal (i.e. no slack in the cable) then even installing a new TB gasket could extend the cable out a hair's length further, and that's all it could need to pull the throttle ever so slightly open. Happened to me.
