"DTM"ing the inside of the OE Amber Bumper lights...

Ive been searching for a while now, I cant find where anyone has done this. Basically, perform the dallas tail light mod to the front amber bumper lights by popping them open, painting them black and keeping the amber lense.

Im not looking for that smoked looked, I dont want to do anything with the lenses. Anyone have any pics of this style?

I did this back in 2002. I think I still have them somewhere. Used black gloss paint but would work better with a few coats of niteshades on the reflector. It looks the same as if tinted the orange lens itself with poorer visibility during daytime, obviously...

I did it on my old 99. The front signals looked good, but you couldnt really tell the sides were done at all.

I came to realize this just now when I got done doing my clears. The fact that I did my clears sparked the idea of doing the ambers. That being said heres what it looks like done to my clears:

Guess they do the same thing the stockers do... not show the inside as well as the fronts.

Agreed. Your pic gave me the idea to have my friend put my other friend's Mustang wheels on his max. Hopfully I can convince him to do so, cuz that looks awesome!

Ignore the corner. We're just looking at the melting of the bumper light.

Not really. I opened the clear bumper lenses (not the corners...) and painted them. They have a reflector in them which is what makes them look like the style of the headlights.

So was the reflector not painted? You took the reflector out and then painted the whole inside black?
I painted EVERYTHING inside black, I thought that's what you were asking about...

I did do that, but I decided to put the reflector back in. Better light in the day, and it matches the style of the AE headlights more.
