Yeah Nissan just HAD to put more weight in the cars, correct torque steer, etc.
Torque steer keeps you awake.

after the 5.5 gen Nissan started to lose the way.... on all models.
A 3.5 in the 4th gen is the way to go, has anyone made a self oil top up for it yet though? Some one should, yup yup.

i'd even go so far as to say a 5th gen (DE-K) is faster than a 4th gen. Considering that my 01 5spd pulls a lot harder up top than my moms 96 5spd.

An 00-01 and a 95-99 would actually be about even in a straight up 1/4 mile.

You can't really take advantage of the 00VI on the strip unless you have a way of extending the rev limiter. A 5th gen will eat a 4th on the highway no problem though.

eh

honestly to me it doesn't really matter..

i love the look of our fourth gens.. if i wanted power... i would do 3.5 swap a MEVI, or 00VI and a turbo.. then i wouldn't have to worry about which car is faster.

A 5th Gen weights almost 200 lbs more than a 4th Gen. 0-60 times a 4th gen is .1 seconds faster

FAIL

4th Gen VQ30DE..

5th Gen VQ30DE-K..

hmm, which ones got the plastic Non-Heatabsorbing Intake manifold.. That every single 4th gen owner wants... hmm... still puzzled myself!

unless that is.. the extra weight on the 5th gen is enough to kill all the extra power... No really.. im stumped. *PALMFACE*

just get a 4th and a 00vi and your set.

Question: Why does the 01 AE put more power?

Actually that's incorrect.

It's the bodywork and floormats that make all the difference

Well Imma assume since he didn't put 5.5 gen he really meant the 00-01.... Hes near 150 post so I can only hope he knows the difference....

From MY experience, the 5th gens are faster but not quicker my friend's 00 up in KS always needs time to catch up with me outta corners, again, could always be a driver error, but I would assume those 300lbs need time to get movin.... Especially with only 12 ft/lbs more tq....

But then again I am modded... but so is he... this is really objective and a near useless thread...

First its less than 200lbs and second its not that there's 'only 12ftlbs' more torque its that the DE-K has more power under the curve. If the person driving the DE-K isnt shifting at redline every single time then the 4th gen should be slightly faster. However on the same note if both rev to redline the 5th (3.0) should be slightly faster than the 4th gen.

Yes, and depends if you want a car payment, if you like the 5th gens better. Many different factors, that only you can decide. If your only goal is speed, then get a 370z and call it a day.

I like acceleration and power,I don't want fast car (I don't wanna crack the speed limit)...Most of cars can run 70MPH

My buddys 01 ae walked my friend 99... Saying this from seeing it.
I doubt the extra 5 hp would make a walking difference. Newer motor. Fixed small things here and there.. I'm not surprised. I was pretty impressed after driving 2 5th gens, they imo pulled stronger than 4th. But then again every car has it's limits. Some stock 4th gens have been maintained amazingly so they feel quick as crap compared to others. Anyone try youtube?
just a quick video i saw. Not saying this is always the outcome.. but the 4th gen was obviously modded heavier.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEErs2VtiL4

This is going to be a disputable debate. Get a stoock on stock with professional drivers on a closed road and call it a day. However people will still dispute that the driver was an idiot. From what i've seen in person, and via videos. The 5th gen is faster. Not hating on 4th gens, love them. An apple is an apple.

Unless the cars r brand new and stock most of these comparisons r useless

.... or both boosted and modded to the max. Kinda hard to do today with new models not being availibe.

Alot can vary, especially drivers, tires, etc.

Id say an lsd 4th gen should be 1/4 faster than a non lsd 5th gen w 00vi (not an upgrade that is worth the hype imo , for the $$)

but i think its all been said above with the >*>*>*> statement
