FINALLY fixing timing chain noise!!!

so the dreaded timing chain noise became CONSTANT a few weeks ago..and I thought my baby was gonna be done. Well she stood up to 75,000 miles of timing chain problems and STILL ran smooth (at 142,000 miles) but anyway I took it to my mechanic he took it apart and saw that one of the bolts that holds the upper timing chain guide in came loose..finally came out all the way..and the guide metal actually broke off probably from vibrations and hot and cold so much...and ..fml..i went and bought all chains..tensioners..water pump etc, and it was an $11 guide, I am also gonna replace the outer full cover on the side of the engine which is like $100..so I have no leaks. All in all she'll be good as new and some of you I suggest having your mechanic at ;east romove the side cover to look at what youve got there because it might be an easy fix to the noise (im surprised the bolt or metal piece didnt get caught in the chains and break them...

well..considering i did NOT need all chains and tensioners water pump etc it would have costed $11.97 for the guide..and the labor will be around $500..but I spent $413 on parts that didnt need to be changed..just figured I would while im in there. Why not.... they got 140,000 miles of wear on them.

Yea good point I'm sure I will go that route and replace all those miscellaneous things when I reach this problem, hopefully it's a long way off as I'm at 75k with half of that being literally all 65-70MPH highway driving. Anyways, let us know how she sounds when you hit the streets again!
