Looking for tips installing leatherseats.com leather on a 99-99 seat with airbags

I bought a kit from leatherseat.com and I already did the back seat. It wasn't too bad at all. I'm looking at the fronts and I'm getting a little intimidated. The new covers wrap completely around the back of the seat. They don't use the hard backing cover that the oem leather uses. The back part is stitched in with the rest. Has anyone done this with airbag seats? Looking for help. Thanks.

You got hosed. Your side airbags will not function properly if you ever get in an accident.

You could always cut the exact area of the side airbag cover out of your cover, the cut edges should be able to be hidden and tucked behind the airbag cover. I imagine it could look OEMish if done correctly.

you say I got hosed. Do you know that they are not the proper covers, or are you assuming I got hosed? If you have more information, please share.

Yeah, you got hosed. Try Wizards idea, or take it to an upholstery shop and let them do it for you.

Since the place you bought them said "it's the same kit" as non-airbagged seats, they clearly are retarded and are hoping you accept them and block/hide your airbags.

I do not know if there is a kit made for seats with side airbags or not, I'm only going by what you tell us ie "it's the same kit"; so I'm assuming you got hosed. I'd check out other companies and see if they accommodate side airbags just to see if they exist. Or, just deal with it with the option I provided.

On a side note, the website you mentioned is a generic intermediate website, so I couldn't check anything out for you...

OK guys, The whole whole "you got hosed" comments do nothing to help me. No offense. For the longest time, www.leatherseats.com offered a group deal here and I know many people have used their leather covers before. I'm trying to find someone who has used their kit. Wizard, you've been around long that i would think you have heard of leatherseats.com on this site. If one of you have replaced your seat covers and have airbag seats, maybe you can help me out and show me what your cover look like on the back side? They are not trying to get me to cover the airbags, they told me right out, you have to cut the leather and tuck it behind the bag. They just can't give me "maxima specific" info. I hoped to find that here.

I bought these covers from leatherseats based solely on the fact a ton of org members have bought from them. I didn't go to some Joe Shmoe company and buy some cheap kit. I agree it seems like "I got hosed", but considering the history with members using their kits I just don't know.

I looked at that since they also have side air bags but doesn't say anything special about it for the install vs non side air bags.

Dunno if you said it already, but have to called them about the installation? Check the 5th gen forums too since they have a similar system

The information highlighted in bold should have been stated from the get go. Your first few posts led me and others to think you were questioning if you got the right covers or not. I helped based on the limited information you provided.

OT: Why would I need to know about leatherseats.com?? My seats are mint, so why would I care to read threads about leather seat covers?? Your logic is flawed.

I fail to see what is so difficult with installing these. If a ton of org members bought these and installed them, I'm sure you can figure it out too. If you were closer to me, I'd help you install them.

Wiz, I don't know if you have seen the differences between an airbag seat an a non airbag seat, but it's more than just an airbag. That's why I was looking for someone specific to an airbag seat and a leatherseats kit. If you don't have both, it might not make as much sense. I am still trying to see if I did in fact "get hosed", but if not also looking for install tips, as the covers don't seem like they line up the way they should. I did the back seat already. It was easy. My thinking is the fronts shouldn't be that much harder, but they appear to be. I did reach out to leatherseats, but they weren't really much help.

As far as the OT comment, I didn't ask you to read this thread. You chose to. you also chose to reply to it. So, why do you care? I do appreciate you trying to help though. It really is a weird situation. I've searched and searched, but I can't find a single post that seems to relate to my issue. Makes me think you're right on being hosed. I'm just trying to find someone that has this kit on airbag seats to confirm.

My 99 has non airbag seats and my 98 has airbag seats, so I'm very familiar with the seats.

I talked to someone at leatherseats today. Yea, I got hosed. There is a way to do it, but not nearly as easy as if I had gotten a katzkin set, but they will still work. I'm going to price out a shop to do it though. I did ok with the back seat, but don't know if I trust myself enough for this trick. Thanks for the help guys.
