clutch slip?? kinda wtf?

ok so i have a 95 max 5 speed its all stock except whats in the sig (HAI, flowmaster, and lowered). on some roads i can matt it in 1st gear at about 10-15mph and chirp the tires all the way through 1st gear then i hit 2nd and nothing. this is the 1st 5 speed that i can not bark 2nd gear with unless its wet out. is this a sign of a clutch going bad or just a crappy stock clutch? i just got the car about a week ago the guy said he just replaced the clutch but that could be a load of B/S to "sell" the car. when i hit 2nd hard and drop the clutch it slips a little then grabs but if their is any water or sand on the road it will bark 2nd.

It should be able to at least bark second.

Sounds like your clutch is on the way out.

ya it kinda seems like a clutch going but it grabs fine unless i try to bark 2nd it holds enough for me to chirp all the way through 1st. i would think if i was slipping it would not do that. im baffled. another deal i just came across i went to hit 3rd gear hard and the shifter went into the 3rd gear "slot" the the motor free revved like i missed the gear. i pulled it back out of 3rd and back in and it went in fine?

PS: will i hurt anything i shift at red line or if i miss a shift and hit the limiter once of twice will it hurt anything? i know some motors will take more than the stock redline is this one of them?

Beat on that sucker a bit more, next up will be a tranny and axle swap.
By then you'll be chirping 2nd.

Problem solved.....

Check the FAQ from the little reading I've been doing it seems people would recommend getting the Ypipe and after market muffler and reinforcing the motor mounts allows you to utilize more effectively the power you already have. FAQs are your friend!
