I am looking at a buying a 98 Maxima recently, and was wondering whether anyone can tell me how I can determine whether the engine and tranny are original on the car I'm looking at...

 

Both have the VIN on them if they are stock, at least all the ones I've seen do.

 

Thanks man. You wouldn't happen to know where on the engine I would find said VIN? Or better yet where are all the locations the vin would be stamped on a 98 Max. I am searching without success for this list. There are random posts with random locations, like in the light well of the bumper on the front passenger side.... Anywho, any help appreciated.

 

Are the locations specified in the owner's manual the only ones with the vin # or are there more?

 

on the trans it's right by the vehicle speed sensor....
