JL 500.1 W JL 12w7... enough power?

JL 500.1 W JL 12w7... enough power?

Ive got a jl 500.1 and was lookin to buy a used 12w7 to replace my 12w6 that cone has came apart from a puncture...but was wonder if 500 watts is enough power for the w7?... anyone ever used this set up or have any insight?.......

500watts is within its rated power range but it could handle up to 1000watts.

a 500/1 would be on the lower side for power... Ideally the sub would want a 750/1 but unfortunately that doesnt exist. For that reason people will run a 1000/1 with the 12w7 (thats what I am running currently), but back to your question, the 500/1 will be fine.

750/1 does exist. Came out earlier this past year. Its JL so you know it carries a nice price tag too.

power handling is also enclosure dependant. that said, it should be fine with 500 watts.

500/1 is really cutting it close with the 12w7. I've seen quite a few people running them like that with never many troubles. Ever look into RF amps to power the W.

Its the setup i have.. :P Its not too bad.. i think the sub could use more power though..

1000/1 will hammer, but the 500/1 will do just fine its clear and not ridiculously loud
