XTREME HIGH EXHAUST !!!

ok all the problems in the car i now know how to deal with except this...
when the car starts, the exhust sounds sooooo loud, like when i got the car yesterday and drove it in my neighborhood, more than 5 parked cars at least had their alarm go on because of the vibration or sound of the car...

don't get me wrong, it doesn't sound like a ricer sound, but its so heavy and you can hear it anywhere, even inside the car, the passengers and I hear this loud sound that is very very annoying to the ear and hurts..

the thing i am sure about is that the problem is not from the engine, its from the exhaust, and the car has a frankercar with apexi filter but im sure its not from it...

do you guys think that the problem is from a leak? or is it from unbolted screws? or is it from the lack of a resonator ? or what exactly...

i never checked under the car yet, but the guy that i got it from said that he put a y-pipe and i think he may have done the b-pipe but im not sure...

please tell me what do you guys think is the problem..

If you have a aftermarket ypipe check that you have a cat if your running with out a car that will add to the noise. also check if you have a new b pipe then its most likely without a resonator you might want to add that to reduce the sound. Id say go to a muffler shop and once the car on the lift check what your car have

time to guess?
im calling break between the resonator and the catiyl. sounds like mine did.
but then again i imagine that this whole thread would be pointless if you took your trunk jack out,ANYWHERE, and jacked it up a few inches to look.
missing details, has it always sounded like that? did you bottom out recently?
have you tried buying a 20 dollar muffler mute?

the thing thats odd is that you say its only loud when it starts. Also in order for car alarms to go off while driving by, you would have to have a pretty serious leak early in the exhaust system. If you go under the car i bet you would be able to determine exactly where the sound is coming from.

oh sorry i prolly didnt explain myself well. ok the car has that sound all the time, on the highway and on the streets, and yes its soo damn loud.

but thats the thing, when i get my foot off the accelerator, and rpm is like 700, the sound is almost completely gone, thats if im not pressing gas at all lol

right... so when your idleing its not too loud at all and then from like 1500-3000 its really loud, and then just sounds sweet after that i would guess. My car was like that and i had tons of leaks in my b-pipe, and the flex part of my y pipe was all torn.

Yep most likely from a leak! And since its THAT loud it should be some where close to the engine and a bit far from the muffler.

But my car is too quiet, I wish I had an exhaust leak too So that I can have smoke come into the cabin and then die in style from carbon monoxide poisoning

Now I do my legwork before posting a q. If I am not finding anything within the threads, I then ask.
