My car wont start Pt. 2
My car wont start Pt. 2
Ok so I got codes now, CPS and Knock sensor as well as the IACV, I've known about the IACV. The car cranks, but wont start. Its been in the shop for a week and the technicians are checking every wire. they replaced both CPS sensors and it still wont start, replaced the fuel pump since it wasn't pumping anyway, they checked the ignition coils and they told me that wasnt the problem, the car is not getting any spark whatsoever, they even changed out the computer with another one from a 95, and it didn't fix the problem, have I overlooked something? The sparkplugs are fine, maybe the wires? help me
Might be a grounding issue. When it cranks does it sound strained at all or does it sound like its going to turn over any second and just doesn't get there? I've had a few issues starting my car over the years.
1. Starter was on its way out. It was cranking, but sounded like something was holding it. Diagnosis of this problem came from hitting the starter with a wrench as it was being crank and the car started up. Starter replaced and it was good to go.
2. Fuel Pump, which is obvious and you already did it.
3. Currently my car is having some intermittent starting issues. It has a strong crank, but won't kick over. After trying once, then waiting like 5 seconds and trying again it starts up as normal. Appears at this point to be a ground wire w/ corrosion, but I haven't confirmed that yet. Something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIpAaHfsuxU though I never continue to crank my car for that long to see if it eventually does turn over.

Haha perhaps its the ignition switch? I used to have very weird starting problems that I thought was the starter/alternator/battery/grounding but it ended up being the ignition switch being worn and ended up with a gap in the little +
How/when did the problem start? Was something done to the car that may have caused this problem.
Over the weekend poster infowire found out his car would not start due to ECU fuse was removed. Make sure ECU is getting battery voltage so it can operate. With the ECU dead the fuel pump will not operate and no spark will occur although engine will crank. An ECU without power is one of the few things that will cause both the fuel pump and spark to be inoperable at the same time. There is a relay (ECCS by the battery) that has to turn on for the ECU to get power and an ECU fuse.
If CEL turns on and you are getting codes out of the ECU it probably has power. If the fuel pump operates properly your ECU is getting power.
Ignition switch is also a possibility.

Nevermind guys, the shop figured it out, it was a camshaft sensor wire that was on the fritz, a FRIGGIN wire! the car cranks and turns over perfectly, the shop considered a posibility of the ignition switch, but they replaced the wire and the sensor and it was done. Now for the water pump's repair. In the end with labor its gonna cost me 500 bucks. Not bad for 2 sensors and a busted water pump.
