Transmission Fluid?!?!

Hi folks,

It looks like its time for me to change my transmission fluid. I noticed a slight shuttering when it shifts now, it is not as smooth as the early days of owning this car. I was just wondering what the BEST transmission fluid is for a 2000 Infiniti I30 with roughly 130k miles. It looks like I will be changing the transmission fluid and filter while down there. Any insight would help! Thanks!!

My y2k i30 has just 100k miles. I use Castrol Import Multi-Vehicle ATF (10 Qts) when doing mine. I'll probably set the schedule for every 30k miles for a transmission fluid change, but not a full flush. I put most miles behind me on two wheels, the i30 is there for really bad weather or when I need to drop off or pick up the kids.

Nissan will charge tripple what it's worth. And if you're doing a fluid change, this is a chance to upgrade to a higher performance fluid. You wouldn't want nissan fluid anyway. It may be made specifically for Nissan transmissions, but there are better options if you do your research.

Looks like I am going to shop for the mobile 1 synthetic ATF. Thanks guys!!

I jacked up my car because I noticed oil stains on my driveway. Looks like my car is leaking oil from the oil pan gasket and the plug. Also, I saw oil spots near the transaxle. Here is a sample of what my winter maintanence checklist looks like

-Flush Transmission Fluid (Mobil 1 ATF Synthetic)
-Replace Oil pan gasket and plug
-Replace Driver Side Axle (CV boot ripped)
-Find out where that leak is coming from

Pics are on the way . . . . .

Any suggestions where I can get a good quality axle from?? Thanks folks!!! Let the work begin!!

Is there a filler plug for the transmission fluid?? Or does it go through the dipstick opening??? Thanks!!

Off topic, yes, but I've heard that if your transmission might be having issues, a flush could make it worse? (I don't see how, but insight on this would be nice.)

Also, if I'm not mistaken, there should be another plug for the tranny fluid aside from the dipstick opening.
