Aftermarket stereos??

I have swapped out the max head unit twice already and the cd player always breaks, I think it happens a lot with this model. Anyway, I want to change the headunit and just buy one at bestbuy. Can I plug in an aftermarket HU into the max speakers? Do I need a HU that is double the height of a normal one. Do I need an amp or something?? I dont know anything about stereos, but I dont need anything fancy, just decent sound from the pre-existing speakers.

Thanks!

The level of fail on these forums lately just astound me...

There's a section on these forums called "Audio and Video"... I could go further insulting you but you get the gist of it....

If you get a single din make sure to get the install kit. Mine installed kinda funky (the kit doesn't look just right) but now I have a working CD/MP3 and an extra little cubby hole.

As long as you dont have the Bose just pick up a Install kit and Wire harness.

Wish I could give you more info, kinda long day.

Yes, piece of cake. Just get the appropriate Max/Nissan specific harness and you're good to go. FYI, if you order from Crutchfield, they'll give you the appropriate harness for free, and install instructions.

Quadruple DIN FTW!! Not.

Seriously though, I'm with your question. OEM is a double din. You can go double din again, or single din with install kit.

No need for an additional amp.

I know, I was reluctant in even posting, but because he's on '04 I atleast posted that link to point him in the right direction, because less than 5 months ago I knew next to nothing about radios, everything I know today is because of that sticky, which is why I was a bit of an *** in my last post....
