Black Air intake fastners, right above the grill on th, how do I get them in there?

I've searched, but I don't even know what the query for it should look like....

I took out the air box, and the air tube/duck leading to it, to do some maintenance. Now I've put it back, but how do I put the black plastic fastners under the metal cross frame to mount the air intake? There is a thick electrical harness in that frame.... Is there a simple way to do it?

Or do I have to loosen the radiator and condenser and push them forward, take out the harness, put the fastners in there and the rest in reverse?

Thanks.

Just keep working at it. I believe you have to try and compress part of the shank to get it in. This is all of course if what you're describing is actually what I think it is. You shouldn't have to remove anything to get it back in.

Easiest thing is to just buy a few from your Nissan dealer, they are about 75 cents each and come in small and large sizes.

A lot of times when you take them out, especially if they are old, they break.

If they don't break you can reuse them, but you need a pair of needle-nose pliers and some patience to pull the tines away from the shank so that the shank stays up high.

Then press the tines together enough so that you can fit them back into the hole, then press the head of the shank down to seat the clip again. Not real difficult, just be patient with them.

The lower cover underneath the engine/trans has about 10 of the dang things in a couple of different sizes.

HEY, if you are talking just about the 2 that hold the air horn to the upper radiator support, those have phillips screws in them.
Press the tines together, squeeze the clip into the hole, press it down, then screw the phillips plastic cheap-azz screws down again.

I just slipped a zip tie through the whole and used that. Works fine.

So both the "tines" are gone (the tine is a the female part of the plastic fastner I suppose). I already have new ones to put in, there is just no way that I can see to put the tines under the frame, because there is a thick harness in there.... I see that zip ties are a good work around, but I'd like to try to put the tines in there somehow since I already have them.... I've seen a few photos on here that have the fastners missing, for the exact same reason: it's a pin in the *** to get them back in there. I was just hoping someone can illuminate this process.

I was able to use some extra inner trunk fasteners to hold mine on. Theyre gray, but they work.

They go in from the top down, it should not be an issue. Just press them in and screw in the plastic center. Maybe we are talking about two different things, pictures would be good.

I wouldn't go THAT far. But, here's the pic (not of my car- it will do). Lower right hand corner has the air intake with the two fastners. I thought the female end of the fastner had to go underneath the frame, but you actually just stick the whole fastner in the hole and press down, the bottom expands and presto. Sorry for the confusion. My camera took a dump so I had to fish around for the photo.
