Unusual radiatior hose problem

You may remember that I replaced the radiator on my kid's 96 Maxima a couple weeks ago. At that same time I installed new silicone radiator hoses.

Since then the upper radiator hose has worked itself loose twice, both times at the connection at the radiator. I have cranked down the tension on the clamp to the point where I am concerned it will crush the plastic outlet on the radiator, and it *still* wants to work itself loose.

Not sure if it is a problem with silicone hoses or if the radiator outlet has a smaller flange on it than is normal on the OEM radiator. Not sure what to do about this.

I'm thinking
1) Just buy a stock black rubber radiator hose and see how that works

or 2) remove the upper hose. clean and dry everything off, and just epoxy the dang thing to the upper outlet before clamping it down. Radical, eh? I love 5-minute epoxy...

What do y'all think?

sounds like the inside of the main hose you are using might not have the same grip over the plastic parts as did the OEM 1's...yes i would just switch it out with another...quick fix

switch over to the regualar rubber ones from autozone, i mean those were the things every 1 used before having these silicone hoses, alot of times what sound nice and nw might just not work. same thing goes with synthetic oil, before synthetic we all used normal oil so i would judst stick with regualr rubbe hose

Epoxy? Seriously?

If you must use the crap they call silicone hoses, then try hair spray.

I remember using that for handlebar grips on bikes when I was younger

IMO, I'd just go with the stock hose...

You can use some medium course sandpaper and roughen up the plastic outlet tube and that should give the silicone hose something to bite onto.

I replaced the upper silicone hose today with a plain old one from Autozone, and also did the hairspray thing on it. The bottom hose has not moved at all since I installed it, so I tightened it down a bit more and will keep an eye on it.

I think the top one is subject to more movement and stress than the bottom one is.

You should be fine with the stock hose, the stock rubber harder then the silcone so its a tenser fit, silicone.
