bad gas fumes inside car. yuck( Evap system issue?)

guys I really need help with this and I can't really find were it is coming from. I removed my back seat recently to help myself rewire my new sound system and ever since then I got a really bad smell of gas. So I thought. ok, well the pump is right under the seat. Maybe it is that? So I took the cover off, tightened it and the smell of gas is still in my car.

So I was like. I wonder where this is coming some. I believe it is coming from my trunk the most. Mainly around the wheel well I am guessing. Could it be the evap system? I don't know the system well on these cars but my uncle said that my vent tube might of broke for my gas tunnel and its making the smell come inside the trunk.

I need this fixed asap because I keep getting headaches and I have to open my windows. I feel like I am lose a lot of gas mileage as well.

Look at gas lines under car going over top of gas tank look for. Leaks I had a leak there once smelled like gas in my car to. Check when fuel pump is running.

I doubt its the EVAP because I'm throwing an EVAP code and smell no gas in my car what so ever. Possibly the gas lines.

I think it just might be the vent tube or something.

I don't think its the cat. IT is coming form the rear. When I blast my subs I smell it a lot when the sub pushes tons of air my way.

I really don't know were the link is. I am almost willing to go to the stealership and hand them the $95/hr just too see what is it. yeah $95 an hour sucks. Any tips were I can prevent them from charging more? lol I am just gonna fix it myself.

Holes ?

Did you drill any holes in the trunk when you installed the system ? Must have been caused by your work, right ?

Have you searched ? I just did and found this : http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...as-strong.html
... and others, too. do you have a Haynes? or d-load the FSM ? This would be tjhe first thing to check out. WTF the cat? How would that give gas fumes? Maybe the filler neck is rusted, or the return from EVAP Cannister, back around the tank. Look over your car, unless you can afford the $95/hr.
good luck!

Check the O ring on the gas tank cover under the seat. After you take off the rear seat and take the bolts off that hold the black plate, there should be a black O ring which kind of serves as a gasket. Mine somehow went bad, and the car reaked of gas.
