A/T Help Wont come out of 2nd Gear

Hey Guys ive done some searching around here and kind of came to a conclusion i just want to bounce it off of you guys first. ok so i have an Automatic Tranny with just over 160K Miles on it. The fluid was changed about 2 weeks ago. Just the other day i was leaving my house and all of the sudden it felt as if i were in N and the rpms shot up. I put the car in second then back to drive and it started going but once the rpms hit about 3.5 it felt as if it went into N again. So i did some searching and found people were having this problem in 3-4th gear and said they got the codes P0744. Well thats the code my car threw and its for the Torque Converter clutch circiut Intermittent. Would i be correct in saying the if i replace the Torque Converter that it would correct the problem? or would i be beter off just getting a new transmission?
Much Appreciated guys thanks!

First check the circuit back to the TCM. If all checks OK, and you're still having the same problem then it's time to pull the tranny. At that point with 160K on it, you're best off having the thing rebuilt along with the TC.

Good luck, hope it's something simple.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I think im just going to have to pull it because all the circuits seem to be ok. Do you think it be best to Replace with another tranny or just rebuild this one. because i here rebuilding them can be costly..

I'd swap in a used 1 if I were you > a rebuilt 1.
