well first off i'd like to report that the tranny is fine...i think.

what i have noticed (and sorry for comparing a 3rd gen to the 4th gen) that when the tranny is in 4th gear WITHOUT the torque convertor locked, you release the gas pedal the rpms goes down to idle.

Now WITH the torque convertor locked the rpm will hold until it releases.

1st, 2nd, 3rd gear will hold rpms.

and i did noticed that i will have to adjust the shifter becuase when you shift to one it does'nt go in...unless you move the shifter down more.

so my next question : is there a link where i can download a 4th gen service manual?

Im pretty sure it should hold rpm's in 4th gear too..

well i finally found the fsm. and when i did find it turns out i had the damn thing in my computer. lol. dont know how either.

but according to the fsm i guess it's supposed to go back down to idle at a certain speed.
so on the highway the other day i was doing 80. i let go of the gas then tapped the brake. the t/c unlocked but it also help rpms...i guess i was checking at a to low of a speed.

but i still have one other issue:
adjusting the shift cable. i does'nt say in the fsm.
can anyone give some advice out about this?? please?

Under your hood there's a shifter cable that is under the brake master cylinder near the firewall near the tranny. Try bending it downwards on the rubber part so you can somewhat get the park engaged again. That's what was causing my 3rd gen to lock up and it was not in any gears,so the car won't start. So I just wacked the shifter or push the shifter into park and the car starts. The permanent fix Is replacing the whole cable.

oh...that. i read that. may sound funny but i'm not sure if i understand it.
so the fsm is saying make sure the manual lever and shifter cable is in park.

loosen the locknut. then pull on it? then go back 1mm?

if that works i'm going ot be baffled. i thought it would consist of something else like loosening two locknuts and adjusting it like that.
