Like already said it'll fit fine. That little extra pipe is not needed on your '96.

I thought they were a different length. hence why 95-96 greddy sp2 wont fit 97-99

The reason the stock exhaust is longer is because of the S-pipe.

The '95-'96 SP2 will fit the '97-'99, you'll just need to add an O2 bung right behind the cat and it'll stick out an inch less than stock.

The '97-'99 SP2 will fit the '95-'96, you'll just need to plug the O2 bung right behind the cat and it'll stick out an extra inch compared to stock.

Wow you guys still cant get this one correct.

All 95, all 96, and 99 cali have a B pipe with NO O2 bung and its all one piece from the cat to the muffler. Supposedly early 97 may have this b pipe. The O2 is in the cat.

Later, if not all 97, all 98, 99 fed have an S pipe with a rear O2 sensor. The S pipe is bolted between the cat and the b pipe.

The total length from the cat outlet to the muffler inlet is the same on ALL 4th gens. The early B pipe is the same length as the later B pipe WITH the S pipe attached.

The 97-99 bumper is deeper so the 97-99 muffler has an outlet that is also a bit longer. Some aftermarket brands realized this and made 2 different muffler lengths.
