Track Time- First EVER!!!

This was my FIRST TIME EVER racing my car @ the track. Too bad the track wasn't prepped well for street cars, b/c they were focused more on muscle cars that day. With h/e & lower 60', should have better times, but don't wanna void my warranty quite yet! But overall, I had FUNNNNN!

60'... 2.275
1/8... 9.477 @ 76.59
1/4... 14.648 @ 94.77
Race Weight... 3450

Auto 5.5 Maxima GLE.

Future track days coming soon!

Is the car stock? If so 14.6 is basically the best you will run stock.

To improve try shifting as close as redline if you can, it takes some time to learn because our trannies love to lag. Do be sure to lower tire pressure as well and take anything out of the car you dont need. Spare, clean car, jacks etc.

Headers + cutout or open Y pipe, tuning, traction, small shot of nitrous.

Those would be most of the cheapest options for you to get down the track much faster.

the best shifting is to let the car shift on its own. but yea....lowering tire pressure will give you better 60'....lower to 22-25psi. also, everyone doesnt recommend this....but i burnout, i feel i get better traction by doing that. the only thing i took out my car is the spare and its been out for 2 years.

and dont feel bad....my first time at the track with intake and exhaust, i ran a 14.62 and my bf ran a 14.5 with it....i think it was hot...not sure tho

The car doesnt red line the gears properly without a computer. Mine in D will shift at 6,000 ish in 2nd and about 6400 in 1st. Thats almost 800 revs of acceleration wasted. not to mention when you redline perfectly you drop into higher rpms, which is pretty important.

Also remember that our tach is off by like 200-300rpm. I think it's a waste of time because my times are faster without shifting. Everytime I shift I lose 2 tenths and gain a MPH...lls

I also had the TransGo HD2 kit...so my car shifted alot later that 6k..That may explain alot

Well like you said, you did have the transgo. I imagine that is why you did better just letting it shift on it's own.

My first time down the track was when I had my Chevelle. 16.96. Trapped 95 mph though.

That 60' time is so important!

Meridian what wheels/rims are you running? 16" steelies might be a quick way to knock a couple tenths off your time.
