Went to the track yesterday now that I got my OBX headers installed and my vacuum leak fixed and finally ran a new PB. My PB before headers was 13.809, which happened like a year and a half ago and I had not gone faster since.

Unfortunately, I lost my slip so all I know is I ran a 13.595 @ 100.96 MPH with an 1/8 mile of something like 8.75x. I also ran 13.625, which I lost the slip for also, BUT I do have a slip for 13.663 and here it is

It says 13.663@100.82, I promise

Mods: WAI, SSIM, NWP spacers, OBX headers, Test Pipe, Megan catback, TS F-spec w/z33 VTC map, VAFC tuned, 245/45 17 Nitto 555r's on stock 17's

Weight: Removed seats, spare, empty tank of gas

The DA was almost 2000' on this pass, I hope I can go back on a day where the pressure is higher and the air a bit cooler, would be great to see what I can do with ideal conditions, although 13.595 is pretty darn good for an all motor maxima. A number of people at the track were really surprised (Ive gotten this before, since ive been running 13's for a while, but not quite like this) and I even had a couple people say they did not believe I was all motor. lol. Oh yeah, I havent dyno'd since the headers, but before them I put down about 240/235. Im hoping to dyno again soon though. My fastest MPH was 102.45 on the 13.625 pass which seems like a fluke since all my other traps were 100.xx, so I think my tune is off in 3rd gear. I was trapping 99.5+ before the headers, so I think im missing something with the tune in the upper RPM's if Im only picking up barely 1MPH with similar conditions

Wow great times...I just don't understand your trap speed in correlation to your ET...I would think you whould be somewhere around the 102-105 range with 13.5's especially with a 2.0 60'...

yeah its pretty strange. Its running REALLY strong through first and second, but something seems off about third gear, just doesnt get up there very well. I think its a tuning problem or something, cause I had one run where I went over 102, but all the rest were in the 100's range. Its weird because I have trapped in the 102's before I got the headers but this year before I put on the headers I never trapped higher than 99.99. Need to get on a dyno and make sure my curve is healthy over 6500. With the DA correction my speed should be in the 103's, but my times would also be like 13.3, so I dont know whats up

Yeah mine's the exact opposite of yours...my 1st-2nd just doesn't seem like it's all there but 3rd gear makes up for all of that...like my 1/8 mph is only a 78mph and my 1/4 is a 100.3 so I am gaining 22mph from 1/8 to 1/4...but I'm also only running like 14.1's (2.2 60' )

I have a Custom Intake, SSIM, OBX V2 Headers/Y-pipe, 2* Timing Advance, Grounded out knock sensor, and that's it...no tune, stock catback....

Good times, but im confused.

Something doesnt seem right, maybe track timmer is off?

I did a 14.1 at 100mph with my bolt on 02 6mt and my 60ft was like 2.2...

If your doing 13.5 at 100mph your 60 ft would have to be like a 1.6...

It seems like he lost power after the 1/8 mile......

yeah, my 1/8th mile is like an 8.75, which more than correlates with a low 13. There was a bit of wind at the track, which is normal, but I do feel like there is a power loss in 3rd gear. I need to do some datalogging to see if its running good up there. I used to trap into the 100's and higher when I was running 13.8's, but for some reason my car has been trapping quite slow recently

Good runs, do you feel that the DR's are helping alot on the launch? 2.0 is a nice 60ft and I think alot of the posts above in disbelief of your trap/et ratio aren't realizing that you were on dragradials... (generally every 0.1 you knock of your 60ft translates into about 0.2 off your final ET...)
Also, do you feel the tune w/ z33 map is worth the money? I was considering going that route soon did you notice good gains from it? Anyways, Thanks for sharing your results and keep up the good work on the times.

The z33 tune made a HUGE difference in midrange power while using the SSIM, 20+ wtq were talkin. The DR's in all honesty im pretty unimpressed with. I pulled low 2.1's and some 2.08's with stock craptenzes all day, I was planning on going under 2.0 with drag radials. If i could, I would probably actually take them back and spend some extra money to get some lightweight 16's and different DR's

Did a little tuning and hit the track again, this time I managed a number of 13.5xx's, the best being 13.563@102.04 on a 2.075 60'. The conditions were a lot worse than last time, pressure down and humidity up, so I think the times dont necessarily show the difference that was made in the tuning. Obviously its a lot better though, since the MPH is up to 102. Cant wait to hit the dyno next week

Nice time. Ever thought about going to a full slick rather than a DR? Big difference....

yeah, I know for sure that it would be really beneficial to me, but the price is a sticking point. If I went to slicks I would go for some light 16's also, so it would end up being not cheap. Sooner or later I will definitely be there though

Went back and ran a 13.536 @ 96.5 (braking, bracket race). Earlier in the night I trapped 102.5, cant wait to finish my motor mount install and return.

Oh, 2nd gear burnout in the water FTMFW, so much better

I had the wierd trap speed issue last year with my Z too. I couldnt trap higher that 103 and was running 102's consistantly. Then all of a sudden this year with the exact same mods I have been trapping 104-105's. Still dont know what it was so I blame it on the weather.

yeah, the atmospheric pressure seems to be low all the time these days, its been a long time since I got a slip that read over 30.00 inHg. My traps went up again though last night, trapping 102.5 at a DA of something like 1200', so it seems to be back. I was leaning out quite a bit at 6700+ which killed the top of third, but didnt really affect my ETs, which more or less makes sense

It's always fun to get that reaction. At the track down here I always have people asking where my F/I or nitrous setup is. In some cases they think I'm being shady and hiding it. Honestly it is pretty surprising to see a N/A 3.5L family car running similar times to a stockish LS1 or modded LT1 F-body.

In a manual car you can vary several MPH on just shifting, much less other conditions that could cause the difference.

Also about the tune, it seems that most VQ35s make the most power in the 13.2-13.5 range up to 5700 then 12.8-13.0 to redline from there. Gathered most of that info from the Z forum tuners and dyno threads. That said you may be running a little lean up top. Do you have a WB02?
