Another knock sensor question..

I've had the 0304 Code on my '95 5/spd since I bought the car not long ago and have reset the ECU only to have the code pop up again a couple of times.

When about to do the voltage test on the knock sensor today I've noticed that there is only a single wire, a light coloured one running out of the sensor body's connector (down in the valley) out into the convoluted tubing. Gotta feeling I'm missing something here, right?

If so and mine has somehow pulled a second wire like I'm suspecting will the ECU be currently running with no knock function but otherwise full performance or in a 'safe' mode, using constant timing retard just to be sure?

It'll be repaired on the weekend, but I'm just curious to know whether I've been driving this car with less than stock performance since day one. Sorry if this exact question has been asked before but I couldn't find a matching set of circumstances answered in the search.

Thanks.

I GUARANTEE your car will run faster if you change it out.
