HELP!!! ECM

I need your help guys, so i hadda get a new ecm last year cause my old one got fried do to a iacv issue, anyways got a preused ecm from a junkyard called sunrise nissan or somethin like that. I went in for a smog 2 weeks ago, and the tech told me the computer wasnt running tests on the car, i told him i unplugged the battery the day before, he told me to come back after i drove the car 250 miles, so i did i came back and the tests were as is:

Misfire: Ready
Fuel System: Ready
Comprehensive Com.: Ready

Non-Continous Monitors

Catalyst: Not Ready
Heated Catalyst: Not supported
Evap Sys.: Not ready
Secondary. Air Sys.: Not Supported
o2 sensor: Not Ready
o2 sensor heater: Ready
Egr Sys.: Not ready

He told me take it to Nissan, and i did and w/o them looking at the car ther telling me its a bad ecm, whats the problem and what should i do?, 1996 5spd Gxe. No cel. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE!:
So I went in for the smog today, and even before i changed my ecu, when I would go for a smog, the tech would plug it in and it would fail to load to comp, but after two three tries it would load... even today just now I went and the tech plugged in to my car and ran the test and it said Error, basically it cant run the test on the ecu. Anyone know what to do? Before it ran the test now it doesnt even do that, is this a defect? I asked him to run it again cause it might work and he said "no", jerk..

You need to drive it until the emissions get to a ready state.
Your new (used) ECU is still learning.
There is actually a drive sequence that will help speed up the process.
Do a quick search on here or look in the stickies.

Well ive had my ecu for about a year now, but like i said i disconnected the battery 3 weeks ago now, and have driven say 500 miles...disconnecting the battery can do this to my car?, upto 2000 miles?

Absolute mileage is irrelevant, it's how you drive; if you just put in gear and idle your way along the road for 500 miles, would you expect it to complete all of the readiness monitors?

The drive cycle is in the FSM, and has been posted here time and time again. Follow the drive cycle, then check the readiness monitors again.
