hey. i have a 02 maxima se. its my dd. i want to lower it to get rid of that wheel gap. i have narrowed it down to either progress or megans or s techs. i might be riding on stock struts for a while and i am thinking about gettin kyb gr2. i had a 98 accord with suspension tech 2.25 drop front and rear on kyb gr2 and it rode great. so any info will help thanks. even if its with a diff spring lmk

 

search bud, there are WAYYYYYYYY too many threads about this with all the info you need and more. One even shows you exactly what every drop for a max looks like..


s-techs on stock prob won't last long though. And the drop is pretty aggresive for ny imo.
I'd get progress from the listed above. Unless you want coilovers

i have already seen the pics of the cars with the drops but it doesnt have every spring. people are saying dont do this and yes do it. i have riding in a sentra that had megans on stock struts and it rode straight to me.

one guy on here told me he had megans but switched due to the ride and has progress now. i dont think im going to get s tech due to the drop but from the pics it dont look mega low

its a dd and im not going to spend 800 on coilovers and drive it through winter with them. also do you guys that have your maximas lowered have a camber kit

 

buy the Progress springs, and dont worry about a camber kit

 

so im guessing you dont have a camber kit? after you installed your springs what did you do. just a front toe adjustment? no uneven tire wear?

 

if you change all 4 springs, do all 4 alignment.

 

where are you lookin for those springs? I just bought a 02 se 6mt as a dd and want to drop mine also.. How bad is the camber on these maximas with about a 2in drop?

If you want to be slammed get the S-Techs...I had them on oem shocks for a few months when I first got them and it rode pretty rough...now Im on Tokico HP shocks and the ride is pretty good and I love the aggressive drop

anyone else on here have megan lowering springs. i can get a set new for 90 shipped but im hearing a lot that progress is the way to go. it has a good ride and drops it perfectly. the megans drop it about the same drop

 

I am riding on Eibachs and Illuminas at first I thought I was in trouble because the ride was a little bouncy but after a month in half the ride is pretty good not stock. You are driving a lowered vehicle now so you learn there are some trade-offs now.

FWIW, I've had Progress springs on my OEM struts that have, as far as I know, at least the 61k miles I've put on them, maybe more, for about six months.

If they're the originals from 7 years ago, that'd make it 162k miles. And the struts are doing okay. Definitely getting close to needing some new ones, I can feel it over big bumps, but they haven't blown yet. I'm currently saving for Illuminas, though.

For a nice drop that's somewhere middle of the road, Progress is the spring to go for.

illumina/eibach, esp if you have an auto, manuals sit higher, handles great

damn near perfect wheel gap, dail the Illuminas down to 3f/4r and your in there!

not for nothing there have be a few used coilovers setups in the for sale, thats the way to go if you can take the $1200-1500 hit!

 

imo, i would get struts first as any stiffer springs will kill your stock struts rather quickly..

That, and if i could turn back time, I would have chosen coil overs rather than my current set up..

I have s-techs on illuminas (for some reason its lower than this other guys 02 with s-techs on stock struts) and it ride pretty harsh, but it look damn good and some people thaught i was on coilovers.

Its not going to ride like stock with s-tech.

But listen to the ppl and get the coilovers, I regret getting springs/struts and I will never do that with another car.

 

This S-Techs on KYB GR2s and my wheel well measurement is 25 1/2" on the front and 25 3/4" on the rear and on stock rim 17" rims with 235x50x17" tires.


Most definitely get the struts either first and then the springs or wait until you can do both at the same time as the stock shock will be blown within 6mos.

 

2002 SE with 6spd, I'm riding on a set of Megans and have never had any real issues, they are a little too soft for me but I've not bothered to change so far. They have been on for 2 years but I'm looking to go a little stiffer. Other suspension stuff is Koni all the way around, poly bushings in the front (major difference) and Stillen rear sway bar, OZ wheels wrapped with 245/45X17 Dunlop DZ101's. Compared to stock, launch is much more stable with little or no torque pull and handling is 60% better.

i have a 2002 i35 and i have s-techs on it.. i wouldn't say s-techs "slam" the car.. i think it's the best drop to get rid of all the wheel gap in the front and has 1/2 inch-1 inch gap in the back.. i have gr2 struts on them, and yes, the ride is pretty rough on bad roads.. but a better pair of struts will fix that problem somewhat, but not make it like stock ride

 

this was my 1st choice for a while now so i can get rid off all the wheel gap. but sine i live in ny and the roads aint great i decided to get the progress. i have heard from lots of people its 1 of the best for the maximas and you can use stock struts for a while
