leaking valve cover

i know there's a bunch of threads on this and ive searched but cant find out the answer to my question. I just want to know if the leak causes performance loss in a noticable way? Im aware that i can change it with the valve covers from a 04 maxima and i should install NWP spacers while these covers are out. any help would be appreciated..

Performance loss? No. Unless you forget to check the oil regularly. If you don't add as required, you will have serious, permanent performance loss.

The performance loss may come from oil leaking onto the spark plugs if the valve cover ever leaks internally.
