5spd A33 i30 question. ( i have the trans for swap, but some ??)

Hello all,

I got into an accident and the cost of repair, trumps cost of car. SO I thought i would move on.

Here is the thing, I want to go to a A33 i30t. BUT i know these dont come in manual. BOO.

I do have the 01 anniversary tranny from my a32 in great condition still and was thinking about transfering that into the A33 i30t.

This i what I THINK IS INVOLVED. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Swap in the tranny + shifter assembly/pedals etc from an a33 max.
Swap in ECU/ inginition cylinder/ key from a33 maxima
disconnect TCM

This should eliminate a check engine being thrown since no TCM and since ECU is a 5spd after swap.

My problem is, I dont want to use two keys, meaning one to get into the car (oem i30 key) for doors and trunk, and then another key (maxima key/ which is compatible with the 5sp a33 maxima ECU).

Can i change the locks without only on the door handle etc.?

Does this sound feasable?

OR am i in over my head? I dont want to invest in an a33 if i cant have manual. jsut because i like manual toomuch

From what I have read about the A33 I30, there is a problem when swapping to a manual trans. There is an issue with the park brake on the I30 since it is floor mounted. Supposedly it interferes with the installation of the clutch pedal from the A33 Maxima, which has a lever operated hand brake. Not sure about this, but something you may want to consider. I don't think I have seen an A33 I30 with the manual swap because of this however.

My A32 Cefiro had a floor mounted park brake .. when you follow the brake cable back it actually mounted to the stock location under the console between the front seats so I removed foot park brake and mounted hand brake - you would need to modify centre console to fit hand brake or try fitting a32 on in or something

should not be something impossible to do.......I always wanted to do a 6mt I35 but then I grew out of it when I tallied up costs and time / headache involved.

OP, maybe look into 6mt G35 sedan.......by the time you're done with this swap with parts and labor and cost of car and time and stress and packs of cigaretts you could just be cruising in you new 6mt car.

well second2none i dont smoke CIGARETTS........ = ),
maybe a few plates of doubles after not smoking cigaretts...

...well my 1st choice is trying to find a good A32 shell that i can pick up for cheap and swap over my crashed A32's de-k/lsd over to the new shell. that is the real budget way to do it. + this will give me a little play money to get supercharger. AND i have nismo lip and all sorts of stuff for a32 which i sont want to just get rid off. but its not easy to find i30 shell by itself. (AND NO, i dont want a32 max shell.)

then if i can an A33i30 shell...

if no go on a33 shell an AE max shell oh high milage..

If all else fails. either SR / RB swapped 240sx. anyone know any being sold in NY?

i would love a 6spd mt G/Z, BUT i dont want car payments on my head cause im in school and already broke so monthly payments are not good. and montly payments on a used car are bogus cause of %interest .

Also i might go away for a bit (not jail, but navy school related) so i dont want to deal with all that. + if i end up in japan Im bringing back a skyline with the sign on bonus they give Officers.

I've wanted an I30/35 for fun on a few occassions and wanted to do the samething, but I think I know of maybe a slightly cheaper solution...

but a manual 5th gen maxima and get all the body parts from an inifiniti I and swap them all over.

I converted mine to 5 speed.

It cost me in total about $300 bucks in parts. All 4th gen components can be used including axles and pedals.

The swap is easier on an a33 i30 than it is on a maxima. The holes for the clutch master and pedal are already pre-drilled because of the parking brake. It took a total of about 6 hours from start to finish. And that includes food and parts runs.

The hardest part was getting the old heavy *** auto off the car.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Did mine, love it. If you buy an a33 i30, key is programmed to ecm. Get manual ecm and take it to dealer to reprogram. You will need to drive to dealer on auto ecm or else the car wont start. I had custom blocks cnc to mount the relocated ebrake to the center. Ive had 4 cars and 3 have been stick. My i30 was 1st and last auto i will own. Best mod on my car is my swap =)

Yea, well I used my tax return etc to close out some bills and pay for school etc. being broke sucks.

then my brother went and crashed my 1st car (the car I learned to drive on)98 i30...

The insurance gave us money for the car and then just left it at my house and never towed it away... so one day I called a few of my friends over, + beer+ BBQ and we tore the 98 apart. Then had a part out on the things I didnt use from the car on NYCmaximas.org (locals)

Now my 96 is mechanically great working order. Only thing left is the dam Ebrake cable which is stretched out + body work.

Also I'm getting blown , and not just by a lady friend.

Im putting in alot of work into the car.
