difference between build date parts

Ok, i need a new rear caliper for my 01. build date on the car is 10/00. when looking at advance auto parts site, it says that its either two different calipers, ones for different build dates, before 10/00 or from 10/00. First question is which one do i need then? because technically mine was built IN 10/00 lol. my guess would be the from 10/00 and unfortunately its the more expensive one, of course. also, what is the real difference, the newer calipers are 20 bux more so why couldnt i just use the cheaper ones?

It will be attached to your VIN. I have the same type of car and "MINE" falls into the 00 category with a build date of 10/00 (but badged as an 01). But DAVEB in many of my parts purchases revealed that information to me.

The Bracket is a little bit bigger on the 01's past 10/2000 ( i think they are considered 01.5's then)
Found out the hard way... (Mine was made in 07/2000)

There IS a difference that simple reading would have told you in my post above. Early 01's were a transition year car and depending on your build date you either got "old" parts from the 00's or "new" parts from the 01's.

Dont say there isnt if you dont know. I know for a FACT that the pad groove design to fit the piston is different between the two calipers and obviously pads from a true 00 will NOT fit 01.
