This is perfect, affordable modifications that make a big difference.

I have the same headers and y-pipe, they really work, you get less low end but much stronger top end, got .4-.5 sec gain on 1/4 on my 1999 infiniti I30, would really recommend them to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

I currently have the original Custom Maximas Y-pipe from years ago. Might be looking to up grade the manifolds. Is it possible to post the Dyno results before and after scans??? Whats the warranty on these?

We don't have any Dyno charts yet.

Yes, the headers are equal length.

No picture of them installed, but hopefully some customer will send some in to us shortly.

this needs to be cleared up.. the headers are equal length.. sure,.. but the y pipe is not equal length which is where you make your gains,..

FYI equal length- look at the collector on the Y.. then look at the difference in length from the start of each collector to the start of the header.. one is longer then the other.. thus not equal length,.. thats why cattman..hotshot..OBXV2... headers have that round loop on them...which makes them equal length...

the only thing equal length y-pipes gain you are sounds quality. As far as power theres not much difference so long as the y is nicely done

yes and no.. its pretty car specific..like for example a REX with a twin scroll is going to want unequal length to get more power.. but the maxima seems to like equal length for more hp/tq....i see it as,..the unequal length header is a vast improvement over the stock system and is less expensive, but is less effective than equal length systems...when properly tuned ...nonetheless..thanks custom maxima for putting out a such an affordable set!

Then the original post needs to be edited. The VQ30DE is only in the '00-'01, the '02-'03 is the VQ35. This is also the case on your website.

Ya, you guys are right. The shop told me the '02 would work. I thought it was odd. We're currently checking fitment on the VQ35DE.

Swapping manifold over wouldnt yeild any gains.

You guys should make an equal length ypipe for the vq30. It would be awesome for us to have a great sounding exhaust w/o buying full headers/equallength y

Any fourth genners that can comment on the fitment, sound, and gains from this set-up?
I'm interested in this set-up since it is priced right, I just want to make sure it fits perfectly and doesn't sound terrible.

Thanks for the info guys,

Adam

whoa am i reading this right?

4th gen headers AND y-pipe for $179 + $50 shipping? What's the catch?

are they stainless steel?

What's the gain on these? i read above it says ~10HP but wouldn't it be more since y-pipe alone on a 4th gen usually nets 15-20HP?

Once the exhaust pulses have been scrambled through the very assymetric-length stock manifold runners, its too late for an equal length y-pipe design to have an effect. The y-pipe that Stillen came out with after ours debuted was sort of equal length, and they claimed it was superior because of that. Testing showed that it didn't make more power (less) and there was no discussion that I can recall of any difference in sound. After a couple of years, they dropped that feature since it significantly increases the production cost and didn't improve the part.

Funny thing is, its just the opposite with equal-length headers. Experimenting with an assymetric-length y-pipe and near-equal length header primaries made the ugliest sound I've ever heard come from a Maxima, or maybe any car.

I was planning on purchasing a Warpspeed Y pipe for my 97 Maxima in the near future, up until I seen this, how would this compare to it? Thank you.

Honestly the designs seem to be very similar. The only difference is that our system includes the headers as well. We worked really hard to offer this product at such a low price for the Maxima community.

is yours stainless steel?

if the designs are similar wouldn't the performance be similar? further up I read that your headers and y-pipe only yield 10WHP... whereas a warpspeed or budget y-pipe yields 15-20WHP and that's not even with headers.

how come the low gains? (i'm not trying to bash the product as I'm very interested in it, i'm just trying to find out why a header/y-pipe combo only yields 10WHP)

Yes, all of our exhaust systems and headers are stainless steel. As for the HP gains, we have not dynoed these headers, so we give very conservative estimations toward HP gains. We advertise the headers as giving off about 10-12 HP, but this is a minimal estimation.

Realistically, the Y-Pipe and headers will probably yield about 17-22 HP.
