How To Install R34 Body Kit

Hey everyone, I am thinking about getting a R34 Body Kit for my 2000 Maxima, but I just wanted to know how installation was.. Does anyone have an installation guide or write-up on how to install it?

Also, where is the cheapest place to get this? So far, I have found this place as being the cheapest R34 Body Kit.

Thanks

It's fiberglass, dude. That's why it's so cheap. The fiberglass body kits tend to start deteriorating after a few years. You'd be better off to spend a little extra money and find the urethane version of this.

Also, do you really want that big, flashy body kit? A few things to think over:

1.) Flashy cars attract more negative attention; police and criminal
2.) You're probably going to need to do a TON of body work to get it to look like that. You can't just slap on a body kit and go. You need to fill in uneven areas, as well as sand and prime and then some.
3.) You might need to modify your Max in a way that if you ever wanted to go back stock, you might not be able to.

As far as a write-up, I haven't seen any...

Do you know where I could find a urethane version of this? And how much more would it cost?

Honestly, I'm not sure where off hand, but I've seen the urethane version around. Pretty sure Extreme Dimensions makes it, so try their site maybe?

It's probably going to run about $200-300 or so more.

Maybe I'm wrong then...I could've sworn I saw this kit somewhere in urethane. Maybe it was a similar kit...

Its really not that hard. Just need to have someone with you to help you out. (balancing the bumpers and sides) The front should just all bolt up. The back is the same. You may get clips for the back. They just clip in the rear bummer for more support. The rest of the rear is screwed in the sides near the tails and rear fenders. The sides are just double sided tape and some screws into the fender part of the sides.

Other then that you should be good to go with any kit you choose. I bought the Stillen one off of Stillen.com. They have decent deals running now you should check them out.
They should come with an install guide as well.

Sorry I didnt take any pictures. I did, reinstalling the stock rear bumper and mud guards. I just have to dig them up. Didnt take too many though so I'm not sure if it will help. Its really basic and any kit you buy will come with install instructions.

I only reason I would ever get, just the front bumper is if I was turbo with a front lower intercooler. Otherwise, I see no reason.

Stillen makes a very nice looking lip kit.

Take a look on the forums for other maximas with bodykits.. I have only seen one I like which is r34max or something who is turbo... Other than that most are broken and on the The official WTF vs. Member Gallery Thread in the off topic section.

Good luck

there are no good options for kits. Even the stillen lip kit is no good because a: it isnt that great looking and b: its WAY overplayed on here, everyone and their brother has a stillen lip kit

Find me a better option, and I won't put the Stillen kit on my 5.5.

So what if it's overplayed? It looks good...

Don't buy this. You'll hit a curb one day and then the entire bumper will shatter.

Actually, this is sort of like a family car and we are going to fix everything and do a lot of mods to it. I am 17 and my first car is an 05 Mustang GT, which I currently have

Does fiberglass really shatter that easily?

you have a lot of questions. You need to just do some general google searching on Fiberglass body kits and such. But I can tell you right now...all those bodykits are stamped out quickly and most have alot of fitment issues. Why not play with the mustang and just leave the maxima alone?

no body kit.

Stillen kit.

Are you Turbo? Why do you need the huge empty space in the middle of the bumper for?

Put a mesh grille looking Home Depot POS there? Dont.

If you're only 17 and have a Maxima AND a Mustang, play with the Mustang. Leave the Maxima alone.

Trust me, I went through the same phase as you. I had underglow on one of my cars, sadly.

I now regret blowing the $300 because I could've put that toward something far more worthwhile. Especially with the type of car I put it on.

Just give it some more thought.

Edit: The best way to start on the Max if you really want to mod it is with a short ram, followed by your basic header/testpipe/catback setup. You'll squeeze about 20-30 HP out of that with a retune.

Then go for an underdrive pulley.

Well the thing is, I only wanna do all this because my parents are paying for all the mods on the Maxima.

Seriously? Your parents are paying for the mods...so you want to rice it out?

Why don't you save up and buy the mods yourself? It'll make you respect them a whole lot more...
