How to remove lights in doors?

I have a light out in my driver's door. How do you remove the lense? Or do you have to pull the entire door panel off? I'm considering putting in led's while in there. Good choice of brand/number to use? Recently tried the Polarg J01 in the front parking lights. A little blue, and NO LIGHT. Moved them to the sidemarkers, and again NO LIGHT. Was considering their J51(?) which is rated at 1watt, but for $50-$70 per pair decided not to.

The front plastic lens just pops off allowing you to change the small bulb inside. use a small flat head screw driver to assist in popping the front lens off.

I just bought some LEDs off of www.autolumination.com that popped right in the door lights when I turned all my interior lights blue. I think it cost like 8 bucks.

I'l give that a try this weekend. I pulled on them a little earlier in the week, but didn't want to pull hard without knowing if that was right or not. Any idea of the reliability of the autolumination led's? I keep hearing of the cheap ones lasting only a couple of months. But I know from experience at work that an led should last virtually forever.

I have led's inside my door access area, picked up a cheap pair from my local Canadian Tire Store been working just fine for over a year and half, the led's work quit well.

Slight threadjacking here but I figure since the question is already answered....

If I wanted to put LEDs there, can I just go to an autozone and pick up a pair? Are there specific requirements when purchasing?

The lights in the doors (also called "courtesy lights") use a standard 194 Wedge bulb. The identical bulbs are in your front and rear side markers, front running lights, and rear license plate lights.

Go to ebay, and search on "194 wedge", then go nuts.

Changed all my interior lights, including doors, using autolumination have not had any issues for almost a year now. Again it is very simple just pop the light housing out of the door with a flat head, then you can easily remove the plastic cover.

i once bought leds from AZ when my started flashing like crazy in my clear corners, returned them that same day, they were HORRIBLE, a match produces more light than them.

+1 the flathead screwdriver, just insert the blade into the small hole and twist the screwdriver at the same time feeling with your fingers. Once you get a hold just keep pulling with your fingers until the cover snaps off.

If you're worried about scratching things, cover the screwdriver blade tip with a cloth.
