00 I30 tranny and idle issue...any suggestions??

So i have a 2000 i30 with about 99k on it and since i got it (92k) i have had an issue with rough downshift with the tranny. If i am traveling lets say 30-40mph and i come up to a stop sign and slow down the downshifting between gears is a little rough especially between 3rd and 2nd and 2nd to 1st. Its not a huge jerk but it is considerable enough to make me worry. It isn't something that is an issue all the time, More-so if I am coming to abrupt stop...lets say if I am in a rush and am driving agressively it is more noticeable.

On another note...every once and a while I have idle issues where my rpm's raise intermittently. It has been much better in the last 4k miles but it does it every once and a while. If I put my toe under the pedal and raise it up the rpm's drop but if afterwards I press the gas (in N) the idle rpm's will raise to 2k+ and rise consistantly sometimes. It seems to do it randomly like I said and usually if I am at a stoplight or sometimes just parked. I feel like it could be robbing my gas mileage and causing damage...

Any insight on any of these issues?? thanks a bunch!!

My car used to do that (not exactly but similar) and it ended up being that the one of the screws for the throttle were set too tight.
