Spring rate the only differene in trim lines?

I checked out the suspension info thread and I see that the SE spring rate is heavier that that of the GLE/GXE. Is the spring rate the only difference or are there other components that are different? I loved the feel of my OEM suspension and it's time to replace it. Besides OEM springs/shocks/struts, what aftermarket brand will give an OEM like or better feel? I like the firmer ride and quicker steering response from the SE. The GLE/GXE OEM suspension felt like riding on a bowl of jello.

Illumina Tokico struts and H&R springs give an SE-like feel and the look of a lowered car. I'm very happy with my set.

I don't need or want adjustable shocks/struts. I'm just looking for a better ride than the 13yo suspension that is on there now.

If you want stock, then just got to autozone and get the generic brand they have. If you are asking for our opinion on after market struts that give you the most OEM like ride...I just told you what it is. Not only will they ride like stock, but they'll lower your car to make it look better. AND it'll handle even better than stock.

In my opinions, that's a win-win.

So will the HP's(blues) do the same thing without adjustability?

I can't comment on HP's. I've never had them. I just know that Illumina's and H&R's have been regarded as the most stock ride on this forum for as long as I've been a member (long time lol).

i added the Tokico HP kit for my 96 SE. compared to what was on there(OEM), it's a welcome improvement both in look and handeling.

I'll be getting my HPK245 kit delivered this WED. I purchased it for only $387 w free S/H:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?p=7415891

I got the moog front mounts & bearings from amazon for $96, and all 4 boots from Dave B. at Southpoint Nissan for $88. I was told the rear mounts normally don't need replacement.

I contacted Hitatchi to ask them about the HP blue struts contained in this kit:

HB3102, HB3103, HU2905, HU2905

I'll have this installed by next weekend.

Koni + H&R.

I heard several times this is the best set up for our 4 gen.

But I am using Stech + Koni because I'm looking for most drop for my car
