So, being the preventive maintenance guy I am, I'd like to swap out my mounts for new ones seeing as I put a lot of stress on these ones and since I'm at just about 100,000 miles.

I'm a 99 Automatic.

What are the best OE Spec. motor mounts? I don't want the harshness of the poly filled ones.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I've been wondering the same since my motor mounts have never been changed and my car has double the mileage of yours.

 

i would stick with nissan original, i bought some from the auto parts store that were a different brand, they lasted about 8 months. now i went to originals and there solid now. you really cant cheap out on these parts, since the keep the engine in place and keep vibrations down too. check www.courtesyparts.com for the cheapest nissan original parts ive seen anywhere

 

Yeah follow the suggestions of the above poster. After all those miles the engine mounts are gone. They are rubber and they develop cracks. I wish I took pics of what mine looked like.

I bought mine from PepBoys, have had no problems with them. I will mention that I used air tools so the repair was easy. But... it's no fun dropping the sub-frame of the car to get the mounts out. Spray the bolts down with wd-40 first. And I used the write-up that somebody has about transmission removal or something similar. Some extra long socket extensions make removing one of the mounts (from the passenger side) really easy.

 

I need to replace the front (electric motor) and rear motor mounts bolted onto the crossmember. I'm trying to decide to get new OEM mounts or replace them ES poly. The ES poly bushings are smaller than the rubber ones on the electric motor mounts so I'll need to insert them onto a smaller bracket. I've read that poly mounts will give you a firmer ride but will last longer.

Has anyone with electric motor mounts replaced them with smaller ES poly mounts? If so tell me how it's been.

 

I've used a few aftermarket brands on both my 3rd and 4th gen.... so far the only aftermarket brand that has been ok for me is "Anchor" other than that I'd say go OEM only.

I had a problem with an autozone manual trans mount... had to replace it once a month cuz it would just tear to shreds and this was being easy on it. Bought OEM trans mount and havent had a problem in over 6 months

 

anyone have experience with mounts sold on ebay?

though i'd probably buy some off rockauto.com they always seem to have great prices...

 

Man listen, stick to the OEM mounts. They are about $100 per mount which is much cheaper than the 5th gen. I changed all mine this past summer but be warned, the passenger and the tranny mounts have been redesigned.

For the passenger mount, the top bolt and one of the mounting studs on the engine have been shortened.

For the tranny mount, all of the bolts have been shortened along with using some washers which I never got since I was able to get away with the shorter bolts.

Each bolt runs about $5 which is a problem. But if you have a hacksaw to cut the bolts, it will save you. Hope this helps everyone out.

I looked in to how to's for 4 th Gen, but i did n't found a thread for inspecting / replacing motor mount, how hard is this job for DIY ? At the most I have done couple of sensor changing / starter motor replacing / brakes kind of job....Do you need any special tools for this ? If plan to do outside, how much labor should be reasonable. ( I am in Nashville, TN )
