Looking to Drop my Max! need advice! plz

So I think I am deciding on Illuminas. I need some good springs tho, but I don't want to harsh of a ride but I would like increased handling and the most important thing I need is a lot less Launch lift. I HATEE how my car dips so much I all I see is the sky. lol.

Also what else do I need to get this all right? I wanna make sure it is perfect. Do I need any other parts? pellow bolts? Should I replace the strut bearings? etc. I live In New england and weather sucks here so i want everything to last. hence why i cannot do coilovers. I don't wanna drop more then 1.5" and I kinda want the same height for front and rear or slightly stronger springs for the rear because my 125lb box is weighing down the rear.

Also. How bad does it look with stock rims and stock tire size? I can't afford rims just yet, but can I do this fine without needing lowpro tires RIGHT away? I plan on getting some nice low pros with 17s or 18's. Nothing to blingy. Looking for a sporty look. My car is 3 years old and well. I plan on still keeping my as I can't afford anything else for a while. SO mine as well make it look hot!

You've been here over 2 years with over 1000 posts, you know what people are gonna tell you...

I have the tokiko illumina strut/spring combo and have no complaints. I like the drop, and the riding isn't too bad. I bought my car with absolutely dead struts though, so no real comparison.

Illumina +1. But get H&R's, not Tokico springs. I love my setup. As for other parts, etc...when I got mine the previous owner put new mounts, etc. so I can't comment. But I would do it if you can.

I had Illuminas and H&Rs on my old Max. Not the lowest of setups but ride performance wise you will not be disappointed.

Yeah. I don't need a really low ride. I just want it to look good with low pros and rims.

I would get Progress springs. The pics I've seen with them seem to drop quite evenly and are the lowest drop without sacrificing strut travel.

this. i have illuminas + H&Rs and it rides and handles as well on stock wheels as my friends '08 acura TL (actually rides smoother, lol). i had 17's and the increased ride harshness was barely discernible while handling was improved noticeably.

my only issue is i wish the front sat a LITTLE lower, but it's fine once you sit in it, .

any drop is gonna sacrifice strut travel. how much sacrifice and how bad it is for the strut is dependent on the drop.

That's what I meant I've got plenty of experience. Progress is the farthest you'd want to go without hitting the bumpstops regularly.

I am just worried how my box will weight down the rear. Any springs out there were I can just buy a pair? I need to buy higher ones for the rear I think.

I, personally, think that getting only shocks/springs isn't quite enough for a quality ride. I would upgrade the current bushings with polyurethane which should also dramatically increase handling and possibly launch. Also you may consider new motor mounts for better launch and better power transfer. Just my 2 cents. Wish you all the best.

KYB GR2 with KSports are great. I have them and NOOOO! I repeat NO!!! I DO NOT BOTTOM OUT! I live in Trenton NJ, a small city plagued with thousands of pot holes and NO I DO NOT BOTTOM OUT. Many people claim it will happen inevitably, people who never even experienced the setup. The front will sit lower than the back, it gives the Maxima a bold look, and the *** won't sag if you have a box. I had 3 people in the back of my ride and the *** didn't sag, the car remained leveled with the front.

i had progress w/ kyb gr2s on my last max and the ride was pretty rough but liked how tight everything was and it was and fell in love w/ the lowered look. ill prob end up putting the same setup on my new max.
