I am using only Nissan-recommended oil...actually, so far, all of my oil-changes are done at local Nissan dealerships. I do not believe in using anything else other than spec because it may void the wtty.

nissan uses quaker state.. i'm not sure if every nissan uses that.. nissan doesnt' make their own oil, it's which ever company they set up an account with.. but i do believe in using the OEM filters beacuse they tend to filter better than other generic brands.. just stick with the viscosity the owners manual suggests and factory oil filter then the rest is all preferance.

Mobil 1 tri-synthetic 5w30 with a Mobil 1 oil filter.

Soon to be adding Amsoil synthetic gear lube or Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube.

Well, do you want your car to handle like cr@p and have a lot of power? then use the Camaro boxed oil.

Do you want luxury, build quality and higher resale value? Then use the box with the picture of the Lexus on it.

Simple.

I don't use oil I use KY Jelly, ooops sorry wrong message board.

When I had my 300ZX-TT Redline 20w50, my mustang Redline 10w30, when I finish breaking in my 02Max then I will probably use redline 10w30 or Mobil1 13w30.

I use mobile1 5w-30 synthetic with nissan filters. I have almost 20,000 miles on SusieQ already and the crankcase still has no varnish anywhere that I can see!! Works great!!

Kendall 15W-40 w/Nissan 9E000 filters

I use Kendall 15W-40 w/Nissan 9E000 filters. I'm going to run 10W-30 for the coldest months(Dec/Jan/Feb), since I'm currently doing mostly short trips.

If you change your oil EVERY 3-4K miles use a quality regular oil. If you go 5000-7500 miles per oil change use synthetic. If you live in EXTREMELY cold climates and/or drive MOSTLY short trips you would benefit from a synthetic.

I'd stay away from Penzoil and Castrol/Quaker State(same I think) and go with Mobil, Kendall, Vavoline, or Chevron oil. I have seen some analysis that have showed ALL to be "adequate" oils, but the Mobil, Kendall, Valvoline, and Chevron typically do far above average. I've talked to several Engineering friends in the auto/motorcycle industry and they have pretty much all agreed.

If your running a SC or turbos I'd run synthetic. In my research/experience the best synthetic(if you can afford it!) is Redline.

Is the Nissan filter a syntec filter?
I know Bosch or something like that makes filter specialized for synthetic to filter out more gunk or something to that effect.

Castrol or Valvoline 10w30... I'd use straight 30 weight if they sold it locally. Don't need multi-vis unless I drive up north somewhere, it just gunks up an engine.

A straight 30 weight is going to increases your wear and fuel consumption until warmed up and is not a good idea. A multi-weight oil will NOT gunk up an engine. It's almost impossible to find a high quality straight 30 weight for street applications. Besides, if your buying a cheapo oil it will cause way more "gunk" than any multi-weight would.
