ebay smoked bumper lights - anyone?
hey,
does anyone have these bumper lights? any pics of them installed? how is brightness?

I don't know how there isn't a thread on these already, but all I could find were DIY smoked bumper lights (spray on tint) and the amber smoked ebay bumper lights, no ebay smoked bumper lights.
anyone who has them, pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thinking about picking up a set for the Neptune Blue

with the headlights you have, those markers would look sick. as far as output, you're not trying to light up the sky with your turn signals, so any light would be good enough IMO. the fresnel-type lenses will help... but being black housings, don't expect them to be TOO bright. good enough to do the job though.
edit: i think those are the black versions of mine... output is in my sig

Yeah well obviously "good enough" doesn't cut it for me.
I'm going to play it by ear. I was hoping to find some pics of them on cars. I'll probably end up ordering them anyway.
Then let the modding begin. I'm considering replacing the 1156 and 194 amber bulbs with 1295 and 168 amber bulbs if my light output is unacceptable.
However, I have ebay red/smoke tails, and IMO I didn't really lose much if any turn signal brightness from the factory tails.
These have the smoke lens, but the reflector still seems to be chrome, which is important. I can't stand those flat-black reflector ones. Terrible looking, IMO.
So hopefully these will be bright enough, if not then the brighter bulbs will definitely make it so.

I got the amber ones on mine from ebay, look good, they put out a lot of light because the housing is VERY reflective using stock bulbs. I would be carful tho because those are illegal bc of the black housing at least in CA. They would have to be amberish to be legal here. They are bright tho, so if thats all you need to know then now you know.

And uh, yeah. You have the normal clear lenses so the black chrome and smoked clears are just different versions of them.
Or do you have the black chrome?
Hey nalc I have them on my pearl red max with smoke r34 style driving lights and to me they look sick I would post a pic but I can'y figure how to .. get them they come with everything and honestly they look just like stock (quality and fitment wise) but smoke !
get them !
get them !

Dont buy them, i just browsed the thread so idk if you did yet.
Quality sucks, i bought the most expensive kind and i lost a lense on the highway after 2 months, be prepared to re seal them because water got in them after the first car wash.
light output SUCKS, end of story even with LED's.
they look terrible, absolutly terrible, the smoking is of bad quality and its just reeks of ebay motor looks, i opened the package and all i could smell for 2 minutes was cheap plastic
i went from clear bumper lights because i thought these would look better, WRONG!
i am now back to clear lights and am SO much happier.

There's a difference in quality between these and the standard ebay clear ones? I had just figured they were made by the same company and one was just smoked.
Did you try light output with incandescents? I want to have functional and safe automotive lighting, so obviously I am avoiding LEDs like the plague. High price, poor reliability, and terrible light output.
Hmmm, I wonder what I should do.
I have ebay red/smoke tails, and I love the shade they are. Just dark enough to not stick out like a sore thumb on my dark car, but not ghetto ricer black tinted. I still want them to be very visible during the day time. The smoked turn signals in the tails don't really reduce output noticeably.
Any DIY way to get a matching clear?
This is my tails, for reference (don't mind the 4x4 look or pinstripe, they're long gone, and I'm debadging soon)

Thanks for the counter point, NRW.
Either going to get them and run a bead of silicone around the seam to be sure they dont leak, or I will get normal clears and try to find a tint film with a VLT of about 75%. Want something that is clear but slightly darker - I hate that satin look from spray-on tint, and I don't want them so dark that they look black. Maybe a tint film like this - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

i have them but it was done myself. you can buy a can of tint spray for about 10 bucks at advanced or auto zone. its really simple and looks awesome. even with the 3 coats i did the turn signal still show threw really well.
Mine. No leaks or so. Payed ~$20 on ebay.

maybe i got a bad batch, not trashing all ebay brand smoked just listing my terrible experience and why i will be staying with the clears.
i used my stock bulbs and the switched to leds to try to get some decent output during the day.
plus they match our r34 corners

And? The goal of the 15 post rule is to get you to read threads and try to contribute before starting a new thread, since chances are your question has already been posted and answered. It's not to get you to randomly spam threads with "im new here", which you seem to have posted several times.
And, of course, if you are troubleshooting and need help, you need to be clear. Not just a "problem with my rpm" - Does your car not rev above ~2500 rpm? MAF issue. Is your idle wrong? IACV adjustment. Are there any CEL codes? Don't just post "im new here" in 15 threads, then make your new thread where you very vaguely explain a problem with your car and expect us to be able to tell you exactly what's wrong. Treat it like a visit to the doctor. Would you say "My leg hurts", or would you say "Well, ever since I tripped the other day my leg hurts in this specific area, but it hurts more when I walk on it or bend it a certain way, and the pain seems to be getting worse". Give details on your car, CEL codes if you have them, exact symptoms of the problem, when does it occur, when does it not occur, any recent modifications you've done, etc. You'll get your Max running like normal a lot faster the more detail you provide.
Luckily, there are a ton of Maxima drivers and mechanics in the NYC/NJ/eastern PA area, so if you need parts installed or any repairs done, it should be easy to find a shadetree Maxima mechanic nearby.
But please - none of this is relevant to ebay smoked bumper lights, so take it elsewhere.

and ive bought both clears and smoked, the cheap ones, and had no problems
I have them and havent had any problems whatsoever. Fitment was great and they shipped them with new bulb , screws , and gromits "clip" (the white plastic push in thing the light snaps into) whatever you wanna call them.

I'm getting them.
I'll run a bead of Seal-All around the seam before installing them.
I use it for my retrofits, and it's pretty good.
I'll post pics in a week or two once I get them and have a chance to install them.
Should be lookin' fine on the Neptune Blue.
