tranny or linkage?
tranny or linkage?
so awhile ago i posted a thread about an issue with my GXE locking me out of 1st and 2nd..car sat for awhile until i got the money saved to put her in the shop...so after warming the car up getting ready to drop it off at the shop yesterday i drove out of my driveway and onto the main road...realize im driving in only 3rd thru 5th or so i thought...so at a red light i decided to see if 1st or 2nd would engage...wham! both gears engage like normal...no grinding or anything...im in freaking shock now...after numerous attempts going outside letting the car run for 30-40mins and trying to engage those 2 gears with nothing...they all of a sudden work like normal. any ideas anyone?? im not the type to argue the problem of it self correcting itself but i'll be damned if i let it happen to screw up again lol
Could be the nylon bushings wearing in the control rod. I would be surprised if that only caused problems on the 1/2 fork though. You could try disconnecting the control linkage and shifting the with your hand at the transmission. I would think that if you had no problems shifting there, then the linkage must be the problem.
