How much to expect from a wrecking yard?

Had some bad luck the other day, and my gf got in an accident w her 96 maxima, and only had liability. repairs would be too much, so the card is basically totalled, and i was wondering if anyone knows how much to expect to get from a junk yard.

info about the car:
it has moderate front end damage, the rest of the body is fine.
the radiators broken, but still runs and drives, but wont shift past N.
key wont come out of the ignition.
salvage title to begin with (odo stopped at 66k)

any ideas?

hmmmm.....with no odometer reading and salvage title...u might be hard pressed to get anythin for it. But usually the value of a maxi will get u at least more than 1200 bucks, prolly more.

OOOOOOH! she hit them. From the JY u only gettin a 100 bucks. Sorry man but thats how liability works

Post a picture? You can fix it if it's not bad. People are parting out parts on here and you can use that to rebuild it cheap. The trans not going past N is probably the shifter linkage.

I'm going through the same thing with my kids 97 with 96,000 miles on it.
Dealership body shop said $4200 to repair.

I took it to a small private body shop. I bought the radiator, grill and headlights on Ebay.

Bodyshop bought the hood and front upper radiator support, bondoed the fender, put it all back together with my parts and charged me $850, including sanding and painting the front bumper.

My total cost with the parts I bought was about $1200

I was about to say, $1200 huh?? Until I read the second part. But yeah I wouldn't expect more than $100 if anything from a yard. You'd be better off parting it out if you can.

when you say parting it out, you mean dissembling and selling them myself?

its easy to part out...Like the MAF, Alternator, Window regulators, front Air vents, front and rear seats, doors, hood, and TB. Most of that stuff u dont really need space for. Especially the MAF man, make sure u get that.

I took some parts off of my old 1996 Maxima, but had a check cut for $100 and the wrecking company towed it away. Seemed to be the going rate at the time given the area I lived in. I called so many damn places.
