Rotor doesn't fit caliper odd problem

So i got EBC slotted/drilled rotors for my front since my rotor's were done as they were. Go to install them yesterday passenger side went on fine. BUt the driver side the caliper isn't fitting the rotor. I pushed the piston all the way back, measured the size of the rotor its the size diameter, but its a just a tad thicker and im sure cause its brand new.Like the brake pad closer to the outside is stopping the rotor from going on. So whatever i mangle it on, meaning hammer the caliper onto the rotor. Drove the car and smelled my brakes and smoke coming from the driver side rotor. So i figured it wasnt safe and just put back on my old rotor.

My question is the driver side rotor didnt align up with the caliper without forcing it. But it did bolt up to the hub but i had to struggle alot for it. Could it be a a bad rotor? Seized cailper, or just leave it the way i had it first and just let the rotor eat the pad down or i could sand the pad down a bit?

call the peeps you ordered it from, and tell them to replace that rotor first, and see if that changes it, then youll know for sure what it is/isnt.

Hey you said you measured the rotor that wouldn't fit... Is it the same thickness and diameter as the passenger side which did fit? If your caliper piston is easy to push in then I would doubt that it is seized. Nothing dangerous about brand new brakes that smoke after a fresh install.

As long as the smoking goes away after a few miles. Let us know what happens.

I measured it with the driver side rotor I took off. Didnt measure it with the passenger side. Yea i doubt the piston is seized. I'm gonna try it again this weekend. I did last night sorta in a rush and it was cold out. PLus i still gotta add anti-squel to my pads and all

Well you measured it, how much thicker is it? they probably just sent you the wrong rotor. there are plenty of nissan rotors that are the same diameter but thicker than 4th gen rotors (which are 22mm).

4th gen = 22mm thick
5th gen = 24mm thick (if my memory is correct)
300zx non turbo certain years = 26mm
J30/Q45 = 28mm
300zx turbo and certain year non turbos = 30mm

All of these rotors have the same diameter as a 4th gen rotor.

Im pretty sure they did send me a wrong one. Cause the passenger side went on fine. Like butter. Im assuming its probably a 5th gen rotor when i bought them the description said 99-01 rotors emailed the seller he said they would fit fine on a 98.. Could that be it? could i have been dooped lol?

i had a similar problem when i had order brembo blanks, come to find out the next day when I warped the new rotor. It was the sliding pins on the driver side. One of them was stuck..

HOLD ON, YOU SAID YOU pushed the piston all the way, make sure caliper is seized up, because it might just be spinning rather than actually going back, that might be causing the struggle you feel

You don't have to spin the piston on the front calipers to push it back in.

yea, i cant cancel payment since it was through paypal through my bank. GOnna dispute it with paypal.

The piston has to be pushed back with a c-clamp.
