installed STS kit...slightly difficult to get into 5th and 6th gear
so i posted the other day that i finally got around to installing my Ralco STS kit. After driving a couple days I noticed that its a little difficult to get into 5th and 6th gear and ive noticed that it kinda crunches (not the same as the 3rd gear crunch which i have). I thought it was due to the cold weather but ive driven around on it for a while to give the car ample time to warm up and it still does it. I havent taken the kit off yet to see if it still does it. it was a little bit of a PITA to get on in the first place.
I have some quarts of redline sitting in the garage but im hard pressed to find the time to put it in. Im hoping this will help with not only this but the 3rd gear as well.
any thoughts as to why this would come up now? is the kit causing the problem?

It sounds like the adapter piece in the engine side of the cable is rubbing, and it might be as simple a fix as getting out the metal file to shave a few millimeters off one thing or another.
You need a second pair of eyes. One person to move the shifter stalk, and another to observe what's going on under the hood.

i have the adapter...dont have any 5-6 problems...
do you have the allen wrench that came with the kit to adjust the screws?,.. make sure they are tight, in the right place... and tighten them evenly,.. think lug nuts..

what would be considered the right position? the directions are very specific.

I have this STS and it looks identical to the Ralco. Feel free to run through the directions so see if you missed anything.
