I have an 2005 Nissan Maxima SL and looking to do some maintence stuff to my car. Any help on changing the V-belts and the autotransmission fluid. The car has a little over 90k and showing wear on the belts and the fluid is getting pretty dark so looking to replace that. Any hints and help with what to do and waht tools.

Do you have a UR pulley ?

The tranny fluid . You just buy from the dealership tell them what kind of maxima you got. If its a 5AT. They are going to give you matic K.

Draining the fluid is like changing the oil as far as how the process goes.

its easy.

there certainly is a dip stick. but you need 4 quarts to drain and fill. 5 to be safe. i believe there are just over 7 quarts total.

It's more of a screen... you don't have to worry about it. Just get some AMSOIL ATF fluid (double check that the transmission for your '05 SL requires Matic K)... I'd get 5-6qt to be safe, and you're good to go. Check here for a good deal... Ed is AWESOME.:
