lol YES 3rd knocksensor. beat that. haha

So where can I get a good knock sensor that actually lasts? yes I put prem in for a while but then I stopped because I had a gas leak and it was too potent too have 93 in my car so I put middle grade@91. Now I need a good knock sensor as she is throwing a code every 40-50 miles after clear...

Also. how many miles do I need to drive to get my system ready so I can pass inspection? It is just this damn knock sensor that is preventing me. I am already a few days out for inspection and the tickets here are really bad if a cop wants to be a **** about it. (Got pulled over for rolling a stop sign and bumping lol and thank god he didn't give me a ticket for that but I did get a $150 dollar ticket for the stop sign. Scweet. >_> lol.

Anyway. Both KS before were used Nissan ones. I wanna avoid crappy ebay ones... How are the ones on Rockauto?

are your knock sensors actually bad (are you feeling a significant power loss) or are you just getting the ghost code for them which can be caused by other things like a misfire, etc. I've owned 4 fourth gens and put somewhere north of 300k miles between the four of them, and never had a knock sensor go bad though I have had a ghost code caused by unrelated misfires.

Are you sure when you're installing them your not tightening them down too tight (thus cracking them) or not tight enough (thus rattling around)?

See, the problem here is that you keep buying used knock sensors. I replaced mine with one that was way overpriced from Advance before reading anything on here about them. From what I understand, the cheap eBay ones are better than OE in terms of reliability, but that's hard to quantify with any certainty.

If you don't feel a power loss your knock sensor is probably ok.

Oh yeah. I got power loss. But i also have a misfire somewhere(she shakes and hesitates when i double tap the pedal in 5th gear 60mph on the hwy for example) and knock sensor code kept coming up after i cleared it and it seems to come up at about 40-50 miles or so. I also heard it could be o2 sensors???

i would simply buy a new one for $143 from nissan, and stay with the BRAND NEW one, saves the time headache and gives the peace of mind that it will last at least 5-10 years ez, and yeah no ticket for no inspection either

How many miles does an OEM knock sensor typically last? I have 82,000 miles on my 95SE and have never replaced it. I thought I read a few years back that a knock sensor should last at least 100k miles and perhaps as long as 130k miles. Is that a fair estimate for the life of a knock sensor?

I have a little over 10k miles on my eBay KS and so far, so good. No codes and no loss of performance. It was ~$30 shipped .
