HKS Sport Axle Back Users Come Here!
HKS Sport Axle Back Users Come Here!
Well, I've been looking at my exhaust options for my 5.5, and for looks and for the sound that I can hear on youtube, I'm definitely leaning towards the HKS sport exhaust. I know there has been a few posts about this, but I can't find exactly the answer I'm looking for.
I want to stay with as quiet a ride as possible. Is there anyone who's running this exhaust that can describe the sound, and anyone that can describe the sound compared to the Cattman. I hear a lot of talk that the cattman is the most silent aftermarket, can anyone verify this? I'm also wondering if anyone experiences drone with this setup. I'll be running stock on everything except the axle back/muffler.
Thanks for your time and help, much appreciated.

I had the HKS, sounds great of all the mufflers for the Maxima IMO except the Cattman 3". BUT it drones like a ****, on highway you will have to cruise at 80MPH = 3,000rpm if you are auto. From 2,000-2,500 is pure god awful drone...

To each their own.
- T-304 Stainless Steel
- 2.5" O.D. (approx. 2-3/4" I.D.)
- Mandrel Bends
- Full cat-back
- perfect fit
- $129.99 shipped
Even if I were to put a nice dual tip muffler on this set-up, I'd still be around $200 total.
If cost is not a factor, then by all means a HKS (axle back only) for approx. $350 is great. But I preferred a full cat-back to remove all the OEM less than 2" I.D. crush bent piping...

hks is expensive yes, but the sound you can receive is well worth it. and they are 390 + shipping.
combine this with a franken b pipe and you have the best of both worlds, power and sound.
Like I said, I'd prefer a nice dual tip, but for the money and for the results, I am more than pleased with this set-up. And the look has grown on me ever since I painted the inner-tip/silencer BBQ black...

...no more bling bling
I have not done this yet, but I will attempt to get some audio/video of the exhaust from behind, drive-by, and on the freeway during the dreaded 2k-2.5k drone (which I have none of).

yea take pics, Im sure it looks great.
I have the stock B-Pipe, stillen y-pipe, warpspeed test-pipe and the HKS rear section. It sounds throaty and nice, not raspy at all and I don't really think it's droning. On highways I usually set the cruise control at 72 so don't know. Maybe I can make a clip as well
