97 SE climate control lights out.

Could it be a fuse or is the automatic climate control module going bad? The MODE and Fan speed button lights are still on but the the rest of the lights are out. Somehow I doubt it's the bulbs since they all went tout at the same time or is there only 1 bulb under there?

There are 4 bulbs. I had the same issue where all 4 apparently went out at one time. Either that or they are in serial and 1 causes them all to not function (like christmas tree lights). I doubt they would do that but I didn't bother to check.

They are about 4 bucks a piece at Nissan.

They just seem to go out at the same time. Had it happen on my old maxima, as well as the new.

Perhaps OT: Does anyone know how difficult it is to change these bulbs?

If you buy them at the dealership it's simply unplug/plug in (once you have the unit out).

If you get similiar bulbs from radio shack or elsewhere i believe you have to solder the new bulbs in.

I remember going to the dealership a few months back, the did not have it in stock or couldn't order it. So I just went to Radioshack and bought bulbs and replaced the bulbs. It worked. I didn't do any soldering. But a few months later I just went with a led mod.

I got them from www.superbrightleds.com. I 99% sure I ordered these bulbs. NEOx LED Instrument bulb. (this was for the 95-96 digital climate control). 3mm NEO3-x

There are several recent threads on this already.

Anyways, if you buy them from the dealer, it comes with new bulb, holder, and condom. If you buy just the bulb from say Radioshack (#7219) you'll have to re-use the holder and condom, though you'll need to secure the condom over the holder since the Radioshack bulbs are a little smaller. There is no soldering.

Are the NEO3's also correct for the 97 I30? They look right, but I want to be sure before I order them.

I just saw the how to for this, so you can just replace the bulbs and don't have to solder anything?
Ahh that makes things easier. Anyone have pics of colors they have done that look good?

This is not a bad job. Take off the front trim piece; then I believe that the radio and ACC module are in the same bracket. You have to remove the bracket from the car, then unbolt the ACC module from it. The four bulbs go in behind the front face plate. Cheapest way is to do the Radio Shack bulb replacement; easiest way is to buy the bulb assembly from the dealer. Whichever you choose, replace all four bulbs while you are in there as removal/reinstallation time in the time-consuming part.

Did you ever figure it out ? This is a problem a lot of these Nissan Maximas had. 4 bulbs, doubt they all burn out at the same time. It's a factory design flaw.
