GoinDef's 2000 Nissan Maxima Build Log

Just bought this car about 2 weeks ago and I'm selling my truck. I'm going light on this setup, for now, and we all know how that can change but for now I'm sticking with 1 1508 and my Orion XTR 1000. I might be purchasing MisterGibbs' HX2 8's on CACO and try those out on this amp, I had some HE2's back in the day and was honestly always impressed by them no matter how much more higher end stuff I've had, so I'm curious what those little things can do and I'm sure some members on here wouldn't be disappointed to see that little test . I'll get pics of the car some time this week and I'll be building the box next weekend and installing all the wiring I think, might take me a little bit to find what I need/want.

Will do too . I loved mine and they got low and clean but I'll bet those 8W7's sound clean as hell.

These things are just funny to look at in person too, it's funny to see that big of a magnet on such small frame, insert female reference here

Hopefully it'll get loud. I've been working with DD's for a while, I'm not completely biased towards it but I like running them for ceratin applications. my problem is that my amp only puts out 250 at 4 ohms and my sub is a single 4. There is someone selling a dual 4 on the forums that I might look at since I'll be able to run a 2 ohm load. I just really don't want to sell my Orion .

Box for now is gonna be downfiring with 2 ports on each side facing back and a false wall to make it look flush, did a similar box in my cousins lexus and it sounded amazing I thought for one 8 and 200 watts, can't wait to see what mine sounds like.

Toward the end and test fitting, fits like a glove, will be perfect when it's carpeted.

Gonna put a false wall up, not sure how I'm gonna design and carpet that just yet. I still want to out this one in and then put in a downfiring one and see what it sounds like.

Thanks man! I believe after displacements it came out to .95 or somewhere around there, which should sound nice, I'm more using this for a tester box to see how I like the sound and if I do I'll keep it but I may build a couple others just to see how I like them too.

Thanks man, Yah I just had 4 of them in my frontier actually and only had 250 to each one and they got pretty damn loud for people, can't even imagine if I had gave them 3500-4000 . This one I'm gonna just try and get loud with one and see what I can do, probly throw 1k to it, still trying to find the right amp.

Man you're the 4th person to tell me that , I pre-drilled them, that one piece of wood was an older piece I had laying around and I did it too close to the edge.

remember to secure the box down before you begin the false wall. I always used cardboard with scissors and small screws to make a template of my false wall builds.. They come out looking great

good work so far

Thanks man, this build is nothing special, wish you guys could've seen my old one, running the wires is nothing I like taking my time with how it looks around the battery compartment and back at the amps and subs, that's where I like to take my time . I'll definitely secure the box down, the way it sits in there it falls forward because the front part dips down a good 3 inches, so I have to build a little support underneath it and secure that down as well. Appreciate the tip on how to get the false wall I thought about doing it that way and it seems to be a common way, thanks again!

Yah tell me about it, having for of them on 250 watts each was starving them to death, Trying to acquire a nice amp that does 800ish at 4 ohms.

yeah about the split wood mine did that in a spot or two but the 3/4mdf holds up well. Did u use a construction adhesive? I glued the crap outta mine lol, and used corner braces as well. I bet that sub will sound really good, keep the pics comin

There's actually more than you would think surprisingly, I just haven't found the right one in my price range yet.
