R-Tec 3" MAF aluminum adapter - Cheap alternative for custom intakes (pictures)...

Searching eBay for the normal "Nissan" stuff, I came across some Sentra and 350Z MAF billet aluminum adapter's with 3" opening . I looked them over, did some research and found they are the same design as the Maxima.
Ordered the adapter for $11.90, it was shipped in less than 4 days and I'll let the pictures do the talking...

The seller is superautobac and here is a link to the one I purchased:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=350309927340

Great for those who want to build a hybrid/custom SRI/WAI...

I bought that exact one on eBay about three months ago. The inside diameter is actually smaller on the adapter than it is on the MAF, so I swapped it out for the plastic one on eBay that has thinner walls on the piece of tube that sticks out.

I made a thread on it somewhere.

If you look through the MAF tube, you can see that the walls of the adapter are about 2mm smaller all the way around.

Damnit! Your right...

...well, back to the drawing board.

I had the plastic black one from eBay and it dry rotted to hell. Ended up snapping at the bolt holes. ARGH!!!!!!

It is built too well lol, too thick(the aluminum one). I can't seem to find the one that I bought on eBay anymore either.

I'm sure it will pop up soon though.

The only problem with mine is that is it plastic, so you have to be careful how you mount it as the vibrations can crack the screw hole if it is only mounted with one hole.

But, your mounting job looks far better than mine.

Does this make more horsepower then a "normal" SRI? I would imagine so because it cuts out 6' of pipe but I dont have it so whats your take afterall you've got the experience?

Huh?

Mine is a typical custom SRI/WAI...

The MAF sits almost identical to where it did when it was connected to stock helmholtz resonator and stock airbox.

if you ever have to buy a new MAF, it usually comes in the tube, so you can use either the new tube or the old tube and cut the flange off. Then just put the filter on the end of the tube

yes, considering the MAF tube is already smaller than it ought to be you shouldnt be shrinking the ID of the intake system more

that's a great deal for a nice adapter but he wants 23 US to ship it to Canada!! IF you guys want one with a thin wall buy the vibrant adapter for the subaru, then drill your own holes. the wall is less than a millimeter thick.

Come on man .... you're the man, make your own .. you made mine. Also, 3" ID will require some dramatic MAF correction.

I don't think the I.D of the adapter will matter.

You were probably referring to the I.D of the actual MAF tube, right?

Very true and that was my indirect point as in your flow is only as good as your smallest ID.

Yep. I had that adapter and I tried to tell myself that the 2mm won't matter, but I just couldn't sleep at night.

I bought the eBay plastic one that has thinner walls, but I can't seem to find it on eBay anymore.

And the fact that your flow is only as good as your smallest I.D is what is keeping me from getting a 3" exhaust, until I do a 3" y.

I have yet to see anyone actually bore the throttle body out on a Maxima. I've heard of a few of the Z guys doing it, and they have the same throttle body so...maybe...

Well, I'm gonna stick with it for now. Fitment is superb, looks good and car still feels the same to me.

Unless my butt-dyno is off...

...and no I'm not gonna get it re-calibrated!!
