How much do you spend on maintenance per year?
I totaled my maintenance costs for my car for 2009... and even with the extended warranty my costs were $3,500! That does not include the $250 I spent repainting the front bumper after a minor accident.
Break-down:
Front and rear breaks: $1,000.00 after-market parts and labor
$500 for labor for the pre-cat and after-market y-pipe: pre-cat part cost ($1K) was covered under warranty by Nissan as a good will gesture.
$900 for engine spacers and Via (NWP) plate parts, new PCV, and new iridium spark plugs and labor
$200 for Boot not covered under warranty
$200 replacement of front cracked spring (pair)
$300 new front Winter tires and installation of 4 winters
The rest was for oil changes and regular routine maintenance parts...
I guess not bad considering almost $1k was for brakes. Car is good for another few years....also had a new tranny installed at 100K kms (60K miles). So car should be good for another 60K Kms or two to three more years...in two years I put on 40K kms or about 20K per year that's about 12K miles per year.
Good thing for me that my office is at my house and that every time I go somewhere during the work week it's tax deductible mileage!
Since I own my car and have my own business(es) I can deduct a good portion of my car expenses from my taxes...phew!

I spent 800 for four tires and everything out the door a couple of oil changes about 40 and belt replacement 150 so so far this year about a grand if you count tires a part of maintenance. My 60k service is due so figure about 300 more to go.
Last year wasn't bad just mostly oil changes so figure 100 and replaced the inside A/C cabin filter was 60 and brakes on all four 400 for clay pads so about $560 last year not to bad.

i guess its the prices in Canada, but woow full brake job should not be more than $500 parts + labor
That is certainly not the price in Western Canada, if you are just talking about replacing the pads. Less then $500 in Western Canada.
The rotors are thicker, bigger and heavier than the Nissans plus they are ventilated and cadmium plated so they wont rust...plus mine are also cross-drilled. I have the same rotors in the back except not xdrilled...I also have Hawk performance pads installed. The price includes all the parts and the labor...plus the cleaning, painting and maintenance of the calipers. And free inspections and adjustments. I think that's reasonable. Try buying just two (inferior) Nissan rotors and pads and see how much your dealer charges. No noise, no shimmy and emergency braking on the highway is amazing. I stop before others in the rain without my ABS kicking in! And that's in Canadian $ which is now par with the US BTW.
The problem I have is that I track my car so the wear and tear is different. I have race tires and road tires. I dont think car accident damage counts. I think I have only spent a couple hundred on oil changes and $50 on front brake pads this last year. I do all the work on the car myself.
i have been buy my car before couple weeks its maxima 2006 3.5 se it al most coast me $14500 its stock but have nice hp there is 3 cars like that in my country & the only one in my city so that is special & i just bay the gas cost & i will check in these couple weak if its need any things
This year has been a rough year as far as maintenance with my 04SL. Had the infamous timing chain fix, which my dealership first diagnosed as an alternator. Along with that, 60K tuneup in the line of preventative maintenance. Both of these total nearly $1,500. Front and rear brakes, tranny and brake fluid flush, AC high pressure hose replacement and system restore..
Wheewww it's been a rough past year haha. All totalled I've probably spent close to 4 G's on repairs/maintenance this past year, and I baby my car bigtime.
And now I'm looking at the spiral cable replacement as well as my horn, cruise, stereo controls, and airbag are all non-functional. Serenity now!!

$650 Brake rotors, pads and install.
$750 Set of 4 Bridgestone Turanzas with install.
$150 Moog front endlinks
$250 Right Axle with install (b/c boot tore open)
$225 Right front bearing with install (replaced 6 months after axle)
Mileage is 65,XXX
Total @ $2025
Its been an expensive year but mostly it falls under routine maintenance.

Wow all the repairs/maintenance you guys get done makes me wonder about the driving habits and road conditions... So far I have only done my own oil changes. And replacing the gasket for my stock y-pipe to resonator I ended up doing myself instead of taking it to the shop. Think the gasket was like $15, the studs and nuts was like $15. Drilling out the sob studs, and then using a plasma cutter, punches, and bottom tap. Because of where they were instead of taking off the whole y-pipe that was a pai... But i'm sure I saved myself like $200 from the muffler shop. All in all I think I did just about $300-$400 on regular maintenance at most this year.
So far this year:
Alignment - Maybe $80..don't remember.
Two new tires due to bad alignment - $450 installed
Oil Changes - $50
I'm crossing my fingers and saying that I should be good on everything but oil changes for the rest of the year. When is a good time to change coolant?
