Different Shade of Black on Air bag Cover?

I have a 98 max SE and noticed in the sun that the Air Bag cover on the passenger side looks to be a lighter shade of black than the dash?

Anyone else ever notice this? IS this correct?

Yea the texture on the cover is slightly different then the rest of the dash. It makes it look just slightly lighter then the rest of the car. I keep a nice coat of Armorall Interrior on it (not so shiny) and it blends in almost perfect.

My GXE has covers for both airbags that look slightly different than the surroundings. I've inspected the car all over and I know it was never in an accident (owned it the last 40,000 miles) so I'll just chalk it up to different textures. Sounds normal.

I've noticed this on many different makes and models of cars, new and used, previously wrecked and not. I thought that maybe they had to be made of a different material or something.
