This car just never quits having problems

ok so yesterday i just installed a brand new passenger side drive axle, refilled the trans with new gear oil, theres a new clutch master cylinder, a new SS line running from the master to the slave, and the slave is less than six months old. This morning i go to start her and as soon as i let out on the clutch, even in neutral, the car stalls. Also, its not going into first second third or fourth, only fifth and reverse. I tried backing the car out and it didnt go anywhere and in neutral when i let out on the clutch the car jumps forward. The car was totally fine last night, and also I just recently did my clutch and put in a new flywheel. Im honestly getting to the point where it feels like its not worth spending anymore money on this car, all its done since i bought it is **** me over countless times, left me borrowing tons of money from my dad and always having to borrow my dads car.

Sounds like you didnt put the shift rods back on right thats the only thing besides a bad tranny that would cause a problem like that because clutch problems dont stall the car in neutral. And what type of gear oil did you use GL-4 right?

i recently did tranny flush at jiffy lube. Made sure they put in GL-4. It was syn and good to 60k.

U sure u put enough fluid in. And i wd still change that stuff out. Nissan recommend GL-4

Well actually, for his sake i was hoping the gear oil is his problem. I was tryin to be positive .

OP,

Sounds like the shifter isnt goin into synchros, or even locked up in a gear. Especially that neutral issue. That aint good. Hopefully, swappin gear oil with proper lubricant will fix the issue.

well i guess it really doesnt matter whats wrong with the car cause it looks like i need to get rid of it. in the current situation my dad wants me to get a newer car and take out a loan and make payments rather than having a car that constantly breaks down. I feel rather stupid that I bought it with 193k on it. All I ever did was love that car, and no, I'm not giving up on the car, the car gave up on me :[.

BTW, how the hell do you "flush" a manual trans without removing the trans and spraying down the whole inside of the case, regreasing the bearings and resealing the case? Gear oil is thicker than honey, theres going to be plenty of gl5 left in there even if i drain it and replace it.

i filled it with gear oil until gear oil started coming out of the filler hole, so yes there should be enough, but then again i filled her with gear oil on a level surface, not up on jackstands, i dont know if that makes a difference. i also didnt drain it all out properly because the gear oil in there is only 1000 miles old, it only drained out as far as the bottom of the passsenger side drive axle hole in the trans case

cant check for codes since the car is immobilized , NSS wiring did get some gear oil leaked onto it. but then again the NSS where it plugs in is covered in grime and 204k mile car buildup and its never given me an issue. Since the clutch job its had issues starting, even with a new starter ground, and its thrown a few ckp codes. not sure but i think i nerfed the wiring from the REF ckp to the pcm when i removed and replaced the passenger side drive axle on the clutch job cause i tested the sensor itself and i tested for ground on the REF ckp harness

i can pm you some tomorrow when its light out. i really love this car and dont want to get rid of it, i feel like with all the work ive done i must be getting close to a break in the bad streak. ive replaced virtually everything on that car, brakes (calipers rotors pads) suspension (4 strut assemblies, control arms, sway bar links, tie rods), clutch and its ENTIRE hydraulic system, flywheel, a drive axle, knock sensor, fuel pressure regulator, battery, starter, ground, everything except the motor itself and the driver side drive axle. i just need a nissan guru that can tell me everything will be okay. i stopped with doing any pulls and racing at stoplights cause i just wanted her to stop breaking even if that meant never touching that 4000rpm note again.

on a side note i really really do hate the way gear oil smells

hey man not to sound like a broke record but check those to bolts that hold the shift linkage to the crossmember maxspeed95se did his clutch job an all was well till one day it would only go into 5th apperently on bolt had fell out and caused this issue

Look, I recently did a flywheel replacement on my car so I know the smell of transmission fluid. It won't wash off.. put some pine-sol in the washer, worked for me.

First I started typing that maybe you put the clutch disc in backwards.. But then i re-read your post and you said you were driving the car fine the day before. Go and double check the axle that you installed. Make sure that it is fully engaged into the transmission. I would remove the axle and reinstall it again to make sure that it clicks.

Like a couple others stated you can also check the shift linkage. But there is only the one bar that does the shifting and the other is for stabilizing. Just make sure all the bolts are intact.

Is your clutch pedal pressure firm? It wouldn't hurt to press the clutch pedal and have someone visually confirm that it moves the bearing lever (or whatever its called) on the transmission itself. Let us know what you find.
