HP Rating???

HP Rating???

i see all these different hp ratings that i don't understand???
Can anyone explain to me about it? Like hp @the wheels or flywheel or tires. What does it mean and whats the difference?
Ohh yeah i see in import magazines that are from over seas i see they use bhp what is that?

The HP at the flywheel is what the car's motor actually makes. So on our it is 190 at the flywheel. But by the time the HP goes through the drivetrain you lose about 15-20 percent of that. More in an automatic than a standard. So you take that percentage and your left with say 120HP thats what we are getting atthe wheel. That is our usuable HP because thats how much is actually getting to the ground and making our car go.

120 HP at the wheels is wrong. ~160 hp at the wheels for auto and about ~165 for manual. This is stock and all stock cars can vary up or down a bit.

do 18's affect the hp at the wheel or do they just add weight overall?

18 affect the HP rating yes, because they are a bigger Dia. Also BPH is just a nother way to say HP, Sudz has the right idea for the rest of the stuff xecpt for that 120 its more like 160 like honda said...
